cleaning headliner

any good products and techniques to clean the headliner?
around the sunroof is particularly dirty. thanks.

dilute some All purpose cleaner then spray + wipe with a terry cloth or junk microfiber
dilute with warm water also helps a bit

diluting is key! too much soap will be hard to get out and can leave a stain
i use woolite fabric cleaner. 1 part woolite, 10 parts water in a spray bottle. i have a beige interior, its a bitch to keep clean.

the previous owner of my car did not take care of interior.

Just make sure to "mist" the cleaner on and not actually get it wet. Most headliners are held up with water soluble glue.

thanks. i'll report the results

a bit of paint thinner on a rag on a light colored headliner is the secret, not too much thinner tho you'll wreck the head liner

Using paint thinner on a car's interior sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Granted, I know little to nothing about detailing, so you could be right... but wouldn't it be best to start with something more gentle as the posters above have suggested before breaking out the Varsol?

paint thinner on tires to get it clean sure, no not headliner

off topic: but paint thinner on tires then two light coats of spraybomb clear (light coats so it doesnt crack) and you'll have wet looking tires for 3 months

apc has never worked for me on headliners, light thinner evaporates quickly and doesnt leave a stain, i only use light dabs of thinner tho,if you get carried away and put too much on it'l damage the headliner, I have cleaned dirt, blood, drink stains, dirty foot prints off the headliners of many roll overs. If thinner scares you dont do it, stick with a good apc

used thinner today to clean dirt and tar stains out of a rollover's headliner, worked great!
