Facebook security settings

While on FB, look at your URL address (the very top box on your screen.) If u see "http:" instead of "HTTPS:" then you DO NOT have a secure session & can be HACKED. Go to Account - Account Settings - Account Security - click Change. Check box (secure browsing), click Save. FB has automatically set it on the non-secure setting! Do your friends a huge favor, copy & Re-post

Just to let everyone know if you use the https you can't play any of the FB games.

domco 04-15-2011 04:03 PM

thanks...didn't know this crap about facebook after the changes that they didn't need to make...might as well be a bit secure

i actually had trouble loading fb (at work) when i was using the https. switched back and now the problem is gone.

The best solution, don't use the website.

Social Media site but all everyone talks about is securing there account so no one can see or find you. So whats the point of even going. You cant even find someone through search.

HTTPs is there so that only people you want seeing you can see you.

I thought that you could still find the person?

No. HTTPS encrypts traffic with the website so if you're at Starbucks surfing FB on the Starbucks wifi, people on the same wifi network can't pick up your packets and hack your FBs!

woob 04-16-2011 03:11 PM

^ that's kinda what I meant. I meant hidden over a network, and not necessarily within Facebook itself (I know Facebook has its own privacy settings). I thought the wiki link explained it clearly enough.

GodZilla 04-16-2011 06:24 PM

No a friend told me about someone we mutually know and when i searched I couldn't find them but they were on his friends list.

bartone 04-16-2011 07:08 PM

^ that would be a different security feature. I believe you have the option to not show up on the searches when someone types in your name.

InvisibleSoul 04-17-2011 12:54 AM

That's a bit of fear mongering there... it's extremely unlikely you'll be a victim to someone sniffing your packets to hijack your Facebook account... if there are people doing it, they would be doing it to profit, as in to get your credit card numbers and bank passwords.
