I think some do. If you go on youtube video stats, you see teens listening to some of those songs. A good song is a good song.

Still, 2011 > 1990.

2011: Don't like top 40? Listen to something else. There's so much out there.

1990: Don't like the radio? Too fuckin bad. Mmmbop is what you get. Thing with nostalgia is you forget about some of the utter crap that was played as filler.

I ono bout that, a lot of those viral hits suck balls, you got bullshit like Rebecca Black with who knows how many million views now and you got classic hip hop hall of fame tracks with like 5000 views after being uploaded for like 4 years and shit lol. But I do agree in 2011 the options are there, I mean we got all your torrenting shit lol and youtube, shit that I'm fairly sure were not options in 1990, but at the same time in 1990 you actually had to make good music to get on, no viral bullshit that spreads like wildfire and ends up being a hit on the charts but straight garbage.

too_slow 04-20-2011 12:24 PM

OMG..

Bong Thugs & Harmony-Cross road
ALL early 90s Mariah Carey Songs
boyz ii men/all 4 one

I haven't listened to these songs since I had a walkman in gr5 (around 1996)

and LOL @ Coolio's Gangster's Paradise -> my first CD with an 'explicit language' sticker on it

Great68 04-20-2011 12:49 PM

Fack, I hate SO much of that music.

Is Billboard only about this Pop/R&B garbage?

spideyv2 04-20-2011 03:49 PM

I don't think you had to make good music to get on. It's the same as now.. marketing. No one cares to remember all those atrocious can-con hits that were played non-stop on the radio. Rock Voisine, Jann Arden :Puke:

We didn't have Billboard hot 100.. some of those songs didn't make radio play on the Canadian stations. Did Z95 ever play hip hop? They threw in DMX (arf arf) called it a day. You had to listen to 102.7 CFRO in mono sound at like 3am. That asian DJ who talked like he was black.. on the wheels of steel..

Gh0stRider 04-21-2011 11:27 AM

i finished downloading the torrent

so many good songs. im listening starting from 1990. i think i'll skip 1940-1990
