SRP actually hides some and corrects some, so if u don't top it with a good wax or sealant, swirls will be back after one or two washes depends on how u wash

Super Resin Polish is mostly fillers, its not going to fix these problems 100%, it'll wear off within a month as with most fillers + sealant combos
and unless your clear coat is soft, its nearly impossible to correct it with elbow grease.

What's the best way to apply SRP? Bought some awhile ago and an applicator from Ken. I applied it and didn't see any difference. I'm just saving up for a DA at this point but would like to give the srp a try by hand again

Have you stripped your vehicle of all LSP? I mean it wont do anything/fill anything if theres already fillers.
Its pretty much going over the surface until it goes fairly transparent (work it into the scratches) if its anything like the Einszett Polish Wax. All these filler + sealant should be approx. the same anyways.
For what vehicle are you applying it to if you dont mind me asking.

dn53 04-23-2011 08:49 AM

Yes, im sure it doesnt have any kind of LSP-- i havent touched it with anything for a long time, but i did clay it several months ago.

its a 02 black civic coupe, i dont think i applied enough pressure because of fear of making things worse. I'm not quite sure how much to use or how much space to cover at once

kyoshiro 04-23-2011 09:53 AM

just make sure your applicator is clean and wipe until it runs out of product then add more.

s300ae 04-23-2011 10:34 AM

so!! i spent an hour using the autoglym shampoo, resin and detailier by hand, and i must say im really impressed even for doing it by hand. i might consider buying an orbital polisher.

even when gerard was rolling my fenders he commented on how fresh the paint looked.

thanks for all your help!
now i must see Ken to get a decent bucket with a guard.

kyoshiro 04-23-2011 10:54 AM

i believe home depot buckets can fit grit guards

Noizz 04-23-2011 11:28 AM

^ Yup, I have 2 5 gallon paint buckets from Home Depot. Been using them for years now.

s300ae 04-23-2011 03:38 PM

i use the blue one from CT. are there guards made for those?

grit guards only works in circular buckets and dont believe they made in any other shape.

s300ae 04-23-2011 03:40 PM

Damn! ^^ Have you tried the absorber? I am really impressed with it. much better than any shammy or leather

kyoshiro 04-23-2011 03:48 PM

nah man, I use a real big ass Microfiber towel called Miracle Dryer by Chemical Guys. Best drying towel I got, a lot better than waffle weaves cuz I find them a tad bit too rough. Shammys are too rough on surface as well.
I also got like a dozen of Microfiber Monster Towels by Chemical Guys that I use exclusively on the paintwork with another dozen of lower quality Super Towels which also qualify on paintwork then a few dozen crappy ones for my rims, tires, interiors.
And if you're wondering, I also have a microfiber exclusively for buffing off my Swissvax Wax lol.

s300ae 04-23-2011 04:44 PM

Chemical Guys must be really happy with you lol

lol i friggen raged at em over the phone once cuz they charged me shipping that costed more than the products itself, but yeah theres no better microfibers than these chemical guys monster towels. Ultra durable and awesome.

but trust me, the towels makes all the difference along with the washpad

s300ae 04-23-2011 04:59 PM

woah. just checked out their website. pretty insane stuff.

I got the absorber, been using it for a few years now and it is still like new. I've tried other synthetic shammys before, they just don't wipe off as clean as the absorber. I use them in conjunction with weave waffles. Part of the dying process can make or break some towels. I recently picked up some weave waffle otcs that came in a variety of colours, and not had the same softness. If you love your paint don't cheap out on whatever comes in contact with them, as kyoshiro said, wash media and towels!

unit 04-26-2011 01:17 PM

ghetto but effective way to DIY a grit guard is to get 2 buckets, drill or punch holes in the bottom of one of them, then stack them.

kyoshiro 04-26-2011 01:26 PM

and dont forget to add a X/+ plate at the bottom so that the dirt doesn't get swirled upwards
