I personally started off making $13/hr, so I can argue for this. I thought it was pretty good considering the lack of experience I had and just having a job, I was happy enough.
If your expecting $25+/hr out of university, you must be trolling me or something. Unless your in a field that not many people can do, I don't see many university grads can pull that kind of figures straight out of university.

Depends on what you're doing..
Trades workers, drafters, researchers, healthcare, pharmacy, list goes on...

You're in business? Start working on your Excel skills, advanced Excel skills. I'm talking hitting the keyboard like the piano. It comes in extremely handy regardless of what you wanna do HR, Finance, Marketing, TLOG, MIS, etc. Almost all the business internships require Excel skills. Also play around with advanced Access, Adobe CS, etc.
If I were you, screw applying on the website. Polish your resume, suit up and hit the bank. Easier than fighting to get shortlisted by a machine. Those ATS systems are junk.

^ Thank you! Yes I'm studying Commerce at UBC. I've always wanted to hand in my resume in person but am not exactly sure how to do it. Should I just go in with a resume, dressed up nicely, and ask to speak to/give resume to whom?

Suit up and carry a few resumes with you. Don't just drop them off though. Come in with a purpose and ask nicely. Don't ask for a job right away. Say you're a young aspiring professional from the almighty Sauder School of Business (not literally), you have these skills, and you wish to learn more about the awesomeness of the mighty bank. You have a 30 second elevator pitch? Google and work on it if you don't. The guys in the last page already told you how. Not likely but be prepared to be interviewed.
It teaches you networking skills. It teaches you how to take a "No". It also gives you a better chance than fighting with the keyword machine.

adiep1 had a great experience with TD Bank. Could anyone else with past experience confirm?
I heard for most banks, they will politely turn you away and all applicants must fill their online form?

Megusta, did you end up getting a bank job last year?
I'm finishing my 1st year in a bcom program. Wondering if I should bother applying because:
A)I'm only a first year 
B)I go away for school so I couldn't work p/t during the year there if I wanted to. They'd have to go through the trouble of training me only to have me leave after 4 months

All the banks will just tell you to apply online. If you show up at the branch with a resume they will just sit down with you (if they are not busy) and pretend to be interested but in the end you will only get a phone call after you have applied online.
I applied constantly at a bank for 6 months before I got a phone call + interview and this is with zero connections. Banks rarely hire from the outside, I was one of the lucky ones. Right timing I guess.
In this job market, CSR jobs are becoming harder to come by because of competition. Most of the time they would rather hire a FT.
For anyone who's interested, PM me and ill take a look for you guys which branches are hiring and whether its PT or FT work. (I work for TD).

Apply online, and then apply in person.. Almost everyone you go in and ask will direct you/ask if you applied online yet. All you need to do is say yes I have but I thought it would be a good idea come in person. (something like that and ask for a manager)
Summer seasons here! you should have been applying like a month or 2 ago.. (my branch just hired 2 new ppl) So get out there THIS WEEK and hand in those resumes!
Be prepared to be asked questions like (general questions they will ask you during there short mini-interview, remember you gotta WOW them now for the 2nd interview!)
- Why you wana work for us
- Tell me about yourself
- What are your goals
- Example of a time you showed beyond your job and provided excellent customer service
Those I find are the key questions most of people ask..

I had a (brief) interview with 4 TD customer service managers today and they asked me similar questions such as "why do you want to work for TD". However, none of them are really "hiring" at the moment, and they say to keep an eye out and they will forward my resume to the place that screens them, and will let me know if any branch needs hiring asap. They all gave me their business cards.. Should I call back in a week? They also told me about the training program coming up in about a month. I feel like I connected with two of them really well.
What should I do from here? Thank you! I did suit up 
Does anyone know if RBC or CIBC accept resumes in person? I went to one and gave up cause the receptionist at RBC told me I can't hand it in person 
PS: They were all North and East Vancouver locations. No luck in Richmond/Delta because they (RBC, TD, etc) don't accept resumes in person

You should still go and hand in your resumes in person despite what the person at the counter tells you. It doesn't hurt to meet one more MCS or anything like that. You will ultimately still need to apply online.
Btw, you didn't connect with shit. They give about 0 fucks about you if they're not gonna hire you. Don't kid yourself.

Wow..six different branches. I hope you used a different tatic for each because you're clearly doing something wrong if you got rejected 6 times. They're clearly telling you a fib if they say they're not hiring at this time but give you an interview. They have beytter things to do than to give random ass interviews.
I'll tell you one thing that TD asks of all its employees. It is to smile A LOT. If you don't smile during the interview, you have failed. You need to tell them something about TD (or whatever bank) that they don't expect the regular joe to say. If you like the customer service and you want to help, you have to put out some serious 'can do' statements. Such as, 'I know TD has been ranked the highest in customer serive for the past 6 years and I'm looking forward to veing part of the team that makes it 7 years in a row.' Say that, and you will wow the fuck out of them and possibly make them shit their pants.

Round 2: Phone interview
Round 3: Branch interview
Unless you got connections, round 2 can be skipped.
Def do a shit load of research about the bank you're applying to. When I had my interview @ TD I knew almost everything about them and I certainly WOW'd the 2 MCSs' and BM.

Thank you | I got my phone interview within 3 business days and Branch interview the day after the phone interview. If you don't hear anything back in a week then try elsewhere.

i was same as you, i dressed up, typed up cover letter and resume and walked into all TDs of Richmond.
got two interviews and didn't hire me.
but please don't give up.
i know scotiabank allows walk-in, and IF YOU REALLY WANT BANK EXPERIENCE, chinatown's banks usually have high turnover rate, so you can try TD and any other banks.
regarding if RBC and other banks allow walk-in or not, it is better to take your chance to walk-in. i applied thru the online system, and i didn't get a job.
i got a bank job by handing my resume through walk-in.
