I have to admit, I don't watch most games and the only time Im really interested is when it counts other interests override otherwise

but I don't see what that has to do with other fans...


this is kind of like when it comes to fanboys of star wars, star trek, transformers they'll always be fighting other fanboys over whose a "real" fan which is retarded

the biggest argument are those that make the real fans look like idiots with their "douchebag acts" and the attitude we speak towards haters of this franchise.

Take Vince Vaughn for example. It might not be as bad as the hate that Theo Fluery has received, but its that, u say shit, i come kick ur ass attitude.

What i have respect for are the fans, bandwagon or not, that understand its all fun and games.

I have to disagree with your analogy. As a parent you have an OBLIGATION to support your child, no matter how good or bad they perform in their endeavors. A child needs support and guidance.

It's completely different from a professional NHL team. These are not children who need our support to perform. These are grown men earning millions. It's their JOB to play well and earn the support and respect of their fans. It's their job to represent their city well.

I am a fan of any athlete that develops their game to perfection. If I am disappointed repeatedly by their performance, they are going to lose me as a fan and supporter. I don't expect anyone to be a fan of me unless I have proven myself first, and then I expect that I have to continue to perform at that level if I want to keep them as a fan. If I start to suck at my game, I would never hold it against anyone to stop supporting me.

In my view, those that are diehard team fans who spend thousands on game tickets and team wear are simply hockey fans and that's their hobby and favorite thing to do. Nothing wrong with that. However I don't agree that all fans have to have that same insane level of dedication to their team.

I do agree that there are different kinds of bandwagon jumpers though. There are those that put on a Jersey just to fit in with the crowd, and don't even watch a single game, and cheer or boo based on ONE game. I agree that's way worse than a fan who bases his support on the team's performance over a season.

The canucks didn't show up to the last game, plain and simple. When a president's trophy winning team gets shit-kicked and embarrassed in the playoffs, *Especially* against Chicago, people have every right to be upset. If that was a home game, I'd say the crowd at GM place should have the right to a refund.

I wouldn't have minded a 3-2 loss, or a 4-1 loss provided they showed effort, but a 7-2 loss with FOUR of those goals in the 2nd period? That was just disgraceful.


BTW I've been a Canucks fan since I can remember watching hockey. No I don't watch every game, No I don't own a jersey, but I have NEVER, EVER cheered for another team in the NHL.

Fair-weather fans are the worst fans. Either you support the team or you don't. Don't just support them when they're winning unless you want to be known as a flake.

No, not even close. But it's annoying as hell when the Canucks are on a 10 game win streak and all of a sudden your receptionist is wearing a jersey and asking if you saw that save Luongo made last night.

Yikes, the Canuck thread is fuming tonight. That thing's like a rollercoaster ride.

Keith pretty much single-handedly won the game. I've seen too many playoff series swing back and forth as teams adjust to not believe we've got a really good shot at taking 1 of the next 2.. as long as the team doesn't panic.

I think those to point their "bandwagon finger" at others are probably pretty big bandwagoner themselves, and just afraid to have someone else point the finger at them. I dont have to justify myself to anyone, and if you do..... you suck

If canucks wins, vancouver is happy. Simple as that.

i have season tickets and band wagoners piss me off as much as everyone else...

i dont follow soccer as religiously as hockey... but if the whitecaps make a championship run ill be the fool in the front row screaming my lungs out. Call me a band wagoner.

i follow NFL alot more then CFL...
im a 49ers fan... the team sucks right now but i still go out of my way to go down to SF for a game or two every year and support... and when they come to seattle im at qwest field tailgating and giving the seahawks the best trash talk i can come up with.

with that being said... when the lions go to the grey cup, im not a die hard CFL fan but ill buy tickets to the game and support my city.

as annoying as band wagoners are... be it hating on canucks after 3 losses and then cheering them on after a huge game 7 win... theyre not a fan of the sport, but theyre supporting their city.... theyre gonna be happy when the city team wins, but theyre gonna raise invalid arguments when the team is losing because they "think" theyre experts... most people in this city become hockey experts when it comes down to the playoffs... as stupid and annoying as they are, take it for what it is....... theyre supporting their city.
