Engine KNOCK? what is this.

today: 2008 g35x
went to church (15min drive), 1hr later went to eat(5min drv), headed for home and about 15min in, suddenly the car is pulsating. it felt like it was "thumping" in revolutions so ithought it was tires so i pulled over, tires are fine. i start driving agian and it starts right away. i could feel it through the pedals(its not brake judder) so i pull over once more.

opened the hood, and reved it a little and i can hear it coming from the engine thump thump thumpthumpthump WTF. i was like 1min away from home so i came home.

in the garage i gave it gas and i could feel it ever so slightly when reving it but when i let the pedal go, as the rev drops and touchs 1.3k rpm ish it suddenly lags once while producing a little "bass" like thump and continues to go to idle rpm which the car doesnt produce any problem.

the whole experience felt like brake judder but with a very noticable sound.

whats wrong????? fuck dealership is probably closed tmrw too -.-

always run 91 + 6000km oil changes.

I suggest a flatbed and not to drive the vehicle to a mechanic or the dealership. Autowest Infiniti is open tomorrow.

just a precautionary measure incase it's something serious and could be potentially harmless to the longevity of your engine.

Without a thorough diagnostic it is hard to say what it is from your description.

any engine work would be covered under warranty right? can i use autowest evne though i bought it at morrey infiniti coquitlam??

i dont really care about longevity of the engine cuz car is lease and i was planning to do a early contract cancellation next week. they gave me a fair price cuz car was in good condition + clean but this might change what they offered??? FUCK WHY 1 week before i get rid of the car -.-

manufacturer warranty.

good at all dealers as long as they can fault it to a manufacturing process defect

with that said, they will probably tell you what they will charge for diagnostic time, and if indeed it is related to a manufacturing defect Infiniti will pick up all the charges under warranty. If not, you will have to pay for the diag time, and authorize any additional work that will hit your wallet.

as for it affecting the condition and pricing of your lease, won't do much don't fret it. Mechanical items will break whenever, I wouldn't lose sleep over it, just how it is.

the key now is to find out what caused it and how to fix it, and go from there.
