How do you fix this area of the headphone wire? So i've been using my skullcandy ink'd in ear headphones for about.. 2 -3 weeks now, and i noticed that when i press my wire against the jack, it would lose sound. not sure what this part of the wire is called but heres a picture for a better understanding. Attachment 5746 so thats where my problem is located. slightly curve that wire and no more music. Is this a fix for this ? i was thinking of striping the plastic and solder it back and then use electrical tape to cover up the solder points. But i rather refer to RS first to see if there are any better ideas. TIA |
Are you sure it's the headphone?have you tried it on other electronics? Also you said it's about 3 weeks old?is it still under warranty? |

Should be able to find something on Google, but it might require some soldering to fix it/strengthen it. |
Send an email to Skullcandy. They have a great lifetime warranty policy. I had an issue with a pair of FMJ's and they just sent me a new set. |
Use the Skullcandy warranty. They're really bad in terms of reliability/build quality. |
You'll need someone to cut the cable and resolder it onto a new connector. Just send it in to Skullcandy unless you know someone that can do it cheap. |
Yeah if you can't get warranty just chop off the connector and solder on a new one from Radio Shack. Easy job. |
ive had this same problem numerous times. ive even cut up that same part. youre gonna need to de-solder it and solder it back on. ive tried to just connect the the wires together but that doesnt work. it might be too late for you now but i do have a cheaper solution. when you get your new headphones, buy one of those headphones extentions from dollar store. that way when it breaks, its just a dollar to replace  |
thanks for all your replies. i went ahead and filed RMA with skullcandy. |
