kicked out of sfu

Hey guys, so I found out I got kicked out of sfu just recently.

I do not plan on doing the back-on-track program because I have no interest in the material I am learning (sciences).

I plan on working throughout this summer and try and figure out what I want to do. ( any advice on what to do would be appreciated)

I am thinking about attending BCIT this fall and im wondering how the admissions work for BCIT regarding my poor grades from SFU.

I'm not sure how far in you were with your degree, but a lot of people drop out first year from SFU sciences just because they're sick of it. 2 of the friends I made in first year ended up dropping out by summer semester, but they had killer high school marks so they just didn't report their SFU marks and just applied with highschool marks (went back to HS to request their transcript, then applied with that). They applied to local colleges though, not too sure how BCIT would be.

Im pretty sure BCIT will look at your high school marks for admission

as for the courses:not sure what program you are getting into or what courses you did at sfu, but you can always do credit transfers

illicitstylz 04-27-2011 03:20 PM

some courses will transfer and some won't.

but seeing that you got below 2.0 CGPA, you probably don't want those courses to transfer over anyways (unless you have a lot of credits).

ask BCIT they have advisors to help you i'm sure.

I was also kicked out of SFU and went to BCIT the year after. I applied to BCIT w/ my highschool marks and that's all they looked at.

Before you attend another post secondary institution and spend thousands in tuition and books, you may want to figure out just what you want to do first. If you're no longer interested in sciences, what are you interested in? Why choose BCIT? These things need to get addressed first because that last thing you want to do is repeat what happened at SFU.

So instead of spending time and money on something that can totally go to waste, figure out what it is you're looking to do and what your interests are. Essentially, don't rush into it. Take your time in figuring out what you want to do before you apply to another institution.

dont think you'll have a problem unless you were kicked out due to academic misconduct (ie. cheating/plagarism)

BCIT looks at your high school transcript for admission.
If you want any transfer credits from SFU, those were be discussed after admission into BCIT.

What CRS said but don't wait too long. BCIT will look at high school transcript.
