I never used Imodium. If you use common sense while eating, you really should be fine. For the first week I was all paranoid, but eventually you reach a stage where you're like.. fuck it. it doesn't matter, then you start eating all this delicious street food and stuff, and it's amazing.. |

Everything else is kinda based entirely on that country and isn't AS crucial. Travel clinic would be a good source of information...if you don't want to get it there, just squeeze some info outta them and get it at your family doctor ;-) As for mosquittos, I brought OFF to mexico and nothing else, and my gf and i both got at least 12 mosquitto bites. Thailand sounds like it might be similar. In retrospect I guess if you want to avoid this, maybe follow some of the other poster's advice of more serious meds for that...especially if the mosquittos are carrying some fucked up shit wherever ur going :-s |

travel clinic always has most up to date info on shots needed. |

As for malaria pills, alot of areas the mosquitos are immune to certain kinds, and some of the pills have side effects that are pretty bad (psychosis, etc). Unless you're going to some serious backwoods jungle, your best bet is prevention (deet), because that will help you avoid malaria AND dengue. |

For the treatment of traveller's diarrhea, I was prescribed AZITHROMYCIN 250MG from the travel clinic. Has anyone used this? I fully expect to get diarrhea at least once on my trip, and would either use immodium or the above to treat it. Does anyone have any experience using this? Also, for water tablets, which ones are the best ones to purchase? Thanks:fullofwin: |
I would stick with immodium, it's strong enough and the last thing you want is to get constipated. That happens if you pop too many pills so be careful. |

buy your drugs in vietnam pharmacy's. No prescription needed. |
^^ take this advice seriously. The pharmacy's in Vietnam are awesome. Pretty much most of the people working at them have no formal education or training but damn if the medicine does the trick. For my first trip I got what felt like an ear infection and a bunch of other things, went to the medicine stores and pretty much with in a day or two was back to normal. +1 for drinking alcohol especially vodka soda with lime and then pair that with lots of water. Keeps you hydrated and fresh for the next morning. |
I don't get why you would take the advice of someone on a internet forum over a trained and qualified health care professional whose job is to deal with travel sickness. People these days.... Also if you had all these questions, why didn't you simply ask the person at the travel clinic rather than go on internet forums for your information? |
