If you are in any airline mileage club, check their site out.

I'm a United Mileage Plus member and I constantly get at least 20~30 bucks less by going United's link.

is it true if you purchased the ICBC roadstar package, you can decline all the optional insurance from the rental company

no, it's more like, you can go to icbc, buy ur own separate insurance, and then bring to the car rental and reject all 3rd party insurance. i've done it before.

Hmm didnt wanna start a new thread, but i was wondering if there was a company that would let a 19 year old rent a car. Have class 5 and clean record. Thanks.

I rented cars at 19 without issue, your just required to pay for all the optional insurance.

There are several options for rental coverage:
1. Roadstar/Roadside package on own current vehicle
2. ICBC $10/day rental coverage (must be bc resident)
3. Purchase coverage through rental company
4. Credit card?

Check Hertz, they had a coupon a while back that waives the young driver surcharge.

They still have it now, but it's for 20~24?

There were a couple different places in Kelowna and Van, enterprise and budget I think, it's been awhile.

payless car rental off the airport is the best i've found. I'm not sure if they have anything big since I've only rented small cars for work. Call them direct to book the car. They will also allow rental without pushing the bs insurance. Regular icbc coverage has been fine for me in the past.

However budget in prince george screwed me big time this month. By claiming damage to a vehicle five days after i dropped it off. Look at the contract and get a proper signed document after the rental period and you're good.

Sweet!
Thanks for the link! I've been trying to get a good deal on renting a car in Honolulu this June and the additional $25/day is such a deal breaker. Having that waived saves me so much!

I went with Avis. I am now a president member of Avis so it turns out pretty well.
great call on catalin. I guess when i drop it off, I shoudl take a picture of the car IF i have damage.... this way they can't go rape me on charges. then again, i paid more so i can have coverage for collision. (for long road trips, i much rather have a sense of comfort)
