i'm reading though novices "In addition to the requirements in the regulations, all drivers must have some previous performance driving experience (e.g. autocross, time trials, lapping, performance driving school, etc.)."

unless i'm reading it wrong, these track days are only for novices and experienced, not beginner?

UBCSCC has track days as well and is open to everyone, regardless of prior experience. You are just put in the Novice group. Not sure how VCMC runs it, but if what you say is true go check out UBCSCC.com. They should be posting dates soon. And if you're experienced, every day is open lapping.

You read correctly. We require all drivers to have some sort of performance driving experience. But here's the deal: you get a free autocross event with your new membership (which you need to run our track days anyway), so just use your free entry at one of the events at Pitt Meadows and you'll satisfy the requirement.

why is there a sound limit? i have never seen any event at mission with a sound limit until this. is vcmc enforcing this rule?

Glove 05-10-2011 08:33 AM

the whole ubcscc and vcmc thing is so confusing,

even their websites are confusing as hell,

how can I just go to an event, give money, and start racing?

All vehicles must be equipped with mufflers and a functional exhaust system. The maximum allowable noise limit is 90db

Rules from: mission raceway

I think you are thinking about autocross events where you can just show up in the morning and hand over some cash, tech your car, and run for the day.

I hardly see any track day event from mission down to oregon where you do not have to pre-register for member and event, vehicle inspection, tech, driving school if required, and then run for the day. Most of the pre-registration nowadays is through karelo or motorspotreg. It is hella easy once you gone through the process once.

so lets say I want to autocross,

how do I find out when and where the next event is,

and where to sign up?

lowside67 05-10-2011 10:21 AM

It's not rocket science dude... there are two clubs that run autocross events in the lower mainland:

UBC Sports Car Club
www.ubcscc.com

Vancouver Chinese Motorsports Club
www.vcmc.ca

Not sure exactly where VCMC's calendar is but if you just go to the UBCSCC website there is a calendar on the homepage. On our website, we have a forum which is where all the signup links and most of the information is, just click on "forum".
