Apparently he thought he could.

The potential of a bike is much more driver (rider ) dependent.

It's a no-brainer. Anything over 600cc on a bike (given a competent rider) blows away pretty much any street car. for 600cc you have ~90hp on ~250kg (including rider). A litre bike like the one in the vid would be pushing 180hp (179.2 hp for the S1000RR), for maybe 300kg including the rider.

I would imagine that the litre bike would give Ferraris and Lambos a good run for their money.

Ferrari's are child's play and don't stand a chance unless it's something special like an Enzo. Lamborghini's on the other hand are quick enough to walk away from litre bikes once the speeds get up over 220km/h. Up there torque and aerodynamics trump power to weight.
