mazda mx3, mx6, or mx5.
my first car was an mx3 v6. for a small car, it was pretty peppy. hella reliable and good on gas too.
with your budget, maybe look into a 2000 mx5. plus you can get away with it since you are a girl.

MK4 GTI 1.8T has a bit of go as well. Not as much as the VR, but it should be a bit easier on gas.

Trouble is finding a lower mileage 1.8T. Just be aware that any parts needed for the VW would be a bit higher than Japanese cars. Posted via RS Mobile | |

Thanks everyone for the input. I've decided to go with an Integra GSR or a Civic SiR. Hopefully, I'll find one on here or craigslist that runs well, in good condition and in my budget.
I've lowered my budget to $5500
If anyone is selling one, hit me up.
