As long as you dont add those stupid ads that load over every picture.

MWR34 05-12-2011 09:55 PM

I would rather pay you $5 and never see a banner or pop up again. I never click on them, nor find any of them relevant to things i purchase online.

If just 1000 users paid $5 each, how long would that keep your costs at bay?

as long as it isn't those annoying ones with the fake close buttons, and as long as they are appropriate i'm all for it

Alby 05-12-2011 11:01 PM

im cool with it as long as it generates revenue for RS and helps !SG out.

Shorn 05-13-2011 01:55 AM

getting 1000 users to pay $5 each would be like pulling teeth..

unit 05-13-2011 08:03 AM

^getting 50 to donate would be difficult

Mining 05-13-2011 09:22 AM

Why did I get failed for my post lol thought you were asking us for our opinions

EDIT: Back OT, if it helps keep this site up and running for free then I say go for it. I personally don't like ad's of any kind but then again who does... but it probably shouldn't affect me anyways.

hotjoint 05-13-2011 09:50 AM

Do it up

bloodmack 05-13-2011 12:33 PM

i dont mind, i have pop up blocker on most of the time.. :P

Cman333 05-13-2011 01:08 PM

I don't think getting 50 people would be hard. I'm sure there's alot of 10+ year RS veterens on here that would do it. I would. RS isn't just a forum, its basically almost like a community now more than just a car forum.

Personally I hate pop ups. Mainly because I work from many different comps, and animated banners slow down the comp. My main comp is ok, but the other 3 are old.

I'm down. Long live revscene freedom!

Do it. Takes 5 seconds to close a pop-up, I can't believe people are actually complaining about such a small issue. Bet you it's going to be pokerstars.net or something haha.

I'd donate too, but I think us veterans are in the minority... Nowadays, a vast majority of users are probably students and they're not used to paying for websites!

TheKingdom2000 05-13-2011 03:08 PM

There is no harm in having an incentive to donate to RS.
Make special donation tags.

At badger and blade they have it.

Something like this may be a good idea. I'm not sure about a yearly fee, but paying once in a while shouldn't be too bad.

orange7 05-13-2011 03:36 PM

What kind of pop ads are we talking about?

is it one of those fake msn pop up of a slut saying she is bord?

murd0c 05-13-2011 04:04 PM

Just do it, people always bitch at first then a month later you won't hear a thing.

RRxtar 05-13-2011 04:06 PM

Another site i frequent has a 'roll mouse over to pop up ad' thing that somehow I always accidentally roll over and the mother fucker has an impossible to find 'close' button. and if you click on the pop up it opens a new website. so i end up opening up 3 more wbsites until my internet crashes. closing that shit down is harder than punching out god.

orange7 05-13-2011 04:20 PM

I don't mind having a pop up ad as long as it:

i) has a really really really visible close button
ii) doesn't randomly pop up once per day when i'm fapping in the news forum

Not really racist! 05-13-2011 05:04 PM

all those qqing must think it costs pennies to run RS... it isn't cheap you know.. im all for it.

Culture_Vulture 05-13-2011 06:10 PM

Not against it. Personally I'm for anything that keeps RS running smoothly; and one ad per day isn't particularly pushing it.
Just as long as it doesn't pop up every time I check the forums, it's all gravy.

K.Dubz 05-13-2011 07:38 PM

What about other revenue avenues like t-shirts, stickers, lanards etc.... I wouldn't mind paying $5 for a sticker. I believe NASIOC has an estore

We sell them at the meets. Maybe 5 people buy shirts. And once people find out you have to pay for stickers they're like "...oh. Nevermind then, man."

Lanyards are pretty much the only things that sell.

I'm all for the ads, but I'd prefer not to have the explosm-style pop-under "zomg look at all this crazy stuff that's totally findable elsewhere on the internet and requires four clickthroughs for total bullshit" ads.
