Car Covers

Wondering if there would be harm into using bathing towels on top of the car just to stop the dust from forming?

Been looking into cheap car covers, but I don't trust that...

Also, suppose you use a car cover for your car, what if you have tire shine on? Wouldn't that ruin the car cover?
