"Excessive Data Used" Need HELP!

Okay, so I resetted my iPhone recently. I ALWAYS use my home network to browse the internet on my iPhone. I proceed to set up my WiFi.

So, instead of using my home WiFi connection, my iPhone decides to use Bell's 3G connection instead (which is retarded as hell). Long story short, it incurs me over $250 of data charges. I only learned of this after Bell reminds me that I have used over $250 worth of data. I turn off "Cellular Data" in the settings menu, after which my phone finally decides to use my WiFi connection.

What should I do?

Pay up. :speechless:

Stop blaming the phone for being 'retarded as hell' when it CLEARLY shows you are running on 3G and not Wifi.

Hell it SAYS 3G on the top left.

What should you do? What kind of dumb question is that?

1. Pay
2. Don't pay
3. Call and complain about your idiocy and maybe they'll give you a break.

Man. Talk about

call the media and make a big scene on national TV and get off "just this once" becuase bell sympathises with your stupidity.

illicitstylz 05-31-2011 04:27 PM

smash your phone because obviously it's retarded as hell.

call Bell and explain your situation to them and complain that you don't want to pay that much and they will reduce your bill by 50% that happened to me with Rogers once and it's basically your one get out of jail free card.

It would be quite ironic if he called CTV since it's owned by Bell Global Media. :D

Bumpitty. Maybe someone can help me on a related, but not so related questions

I'm on the 150mb data plan with Rogers
If I use the "use phone as wifi hotspot" function on my phone, will I be charged with extra fees for tethering? (I'm just letting my eee pad tablet share my interenet)

ninjai123 06-02-2011 08:06 PM

^ i believe you do to get free tethering it should be over 1gig.

!MiKrofT 06-02-2011 08:24 PM

Rogers shouldn't be able to tell that you're using tethering on Android. However yes if you have a 1gb or more data plan you can tether for free.

If you really don't want to pay, tell Bell it's a mistake, and you didn't know. They'll let you off "maybe" this time. If not then you will have to pay.

But please remember to set your settings to your preferences before something bad happens.

Keep an eye on your bill I don't trust wifi hotspots especially from Rogers. From past experience after working for them some have reported that their data usage was gone after going on a rogers hot spot certified area and to found out they were getting charged for the extra data that they were using from the hotspot so IMO NEVER trust any of the Telus,Bell,Rogers in terms of dealing with billing accuracy and as well usage accuracy.
