(CBS/KTVT/AP) FORT WORTH - Keep your saggy pants to yourself.

That's the message in Fort Worth, Texas, where the city's Transportation Authority has decided to let bus drivers turn away passengers whose pants sag below the waist, reports CBS affiliate KTVT.

The no-saggy pants campaign began in 2008, but the dress code was recently tweaked to deny boarding to "saggy violators," said Joan Hunter, spokeswoman for the transit system known as the T.

"It's not like they have to go home," Hunter said. "They can just pull it up. It's to be respectful of other riders," she told KTVT.

Posters are being placed on buses and billboards to let riders know that saggy pants are not acceptable, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday.

The policy change took effect May 12, and that day drivers asked about 50 riders to pull up their pants before boarding, according to Hunter. All complied, she said.

"They'll mess with our freedom. Pretty soon they're going to ban dreadlocks, too," said Cory Shelby, a tattoo artist who rides city buses.

Shelby, 29, recently was told to pull up his pants before boarding, even though he said his black cargo shorts were not drooping enough to be distasteful.

"They told me I had to pull up my pants," he said, "And my boxers weren't even showing."

City Councilman Frank Moss has said the saggy-pants look hurts the ability of young people to land jobs.

"This shows we have taken the overall concept of pulling them up to a new level," Moss said during a recent council meeting. "There are some real policies in place to say, if you don't pull `em up, you can't ride."

^ we are talking about pulling up ur pants so u don't show 2/3 of ur boxers.
kinda like if a chick tried to board a bus dressed like a stripper...probably not acceptable but i wouldn't mind it
:fuckyea:

not talkin about brand name clothing here...

AAnthony 06-02-2011 01:00 PM

I know it's not about brand names. I was just pointing out that our "hoodlums" are dressed like they're fresh out of some Audigier fashion catalogue. As opposed to........ (which is what they're complaining about) http://www.readthesmiths.com/article...ggingpants.jpg

I remember my grade 6 teacher telling me the "history" of saggy pants. Saying people would go to jail, lose tons of weight, and when they were released they got their clothes back, which were really baggy. It was a way to tell who had been locked up. Baggy = Hardcore. And of course as time went by the style caught on.

Why are they so expensive anyways? lol... they make the wearer look like they've been ass kicked by a donkey

Vansterdam 06-02-2011 06:57 PM

wtf

vafanculo 06-02-2011 06:58 PM

I'm glad Vancouver doesn't have that much of a problem with thugs wearing super baggy clothes.

I'm sure it's just a generalization, but thugs like in the picture above, I'd be somewhat worried abou sitting next to on the bus. Usually, the thugs dresses in nice clothes here only mess with you if you mess with them first.

Bit of a stereotype, but I see it that way.

In the land of the free, they are passing laws denying access to the bus for wearing baggy pants.

In the land of the free where 30/40/50% of homes are in some type of distress?

Employment at 9%, probably higher as people gave up?

That country needs to pull their fucking pants up and work on some important shit.

Things that don't matter as much as:

jobs, homes and food

They are:

1.abortion. Let a woman choose what happens in her womb
2.Gay marriage. Let people choose who they fuck, marry and love. You did.
3.Evolution in schools. Yes, it works like fucking magic. Tell me what happened in 7 days again?
4.Guns. Cool, guns don't kill people, people kill people. Then work on people control. You need less fucking lunatics with guns.

There's more, but less talk on those 4 subjects would clear the slate for discussion on serious shit.

Oh, but there are those pesky wannabe homeboys and their saggy pants.

bwahaha sounds like a racial profiling claim just waiting to happen.

I guess putting them on the back of the bus would have been to drastic.
