vBulletin experts out there?

i don't have a ton of info but the site i mod at is having a prolonged issue with one feature, the "new posts" feature. what happens is a "500 Internal Server Error" message when you try to use it and even his host can not figure this out.

seems everybody can't bother to visit as much without this feature, so any clues or tips would be great. the owner has an ongoing ticket with his host with dozens of exchanges in the last few days, but nothing at all. the vB guys will not help, saying it's the host.

It's definitely an issue with the server setup, and will likely need to be resolved by the host support. If you are with a crappy host, that might mean it's unfixable :(

i don't even use that feature, but visits have come to a crawl because of it(lack of it). poor guy(owner) is not so tech savvy either. (canadian-photographer.ca)

The server log will definitely tell you what exactly is causing it

so is that a plugin or part of vB itself? can he replace it with a different plugin like WordPress has several different plugins ?

edit: just saw your post. maybe i can get the log.

edit: will post results when they come...
