I did not enjoy the gti. Eventhough they only had autos and it was at coquitlam center parking lot, I like my sx4 a lot more. The steering on my car feels a lot more responsive. Maybe I Will test drive a standard gti one day just to compare it to the auto. Posted via RS Mobile |
for those who didn't reg you can probably walk in and drive. My friend did that and it was all good. |

Way too packed for my liking. For some reason, I was naive enough to think that I would have the GTI all to myself for the hour that I signed up for. |
For those of you who missed the event, the course was only 30 seconds long. But it was free and worth the experience. Thanks OP http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/t...5/IMG_1159.jpg http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/t...5/IMG_1157.jpg |
Yeah, way too short and no manual transmissions. With my first instructor, I asked him if the other GTI was manual because the one that I was sitting in was clearly an automatic. He simply said, "No, no. No manuals." Way to sell the car! The second instructor explained to me that they had tried putting manuals in the freedriving tour a couple years back and they ended up burning out a lot of clutches, since they have to bring the cars across Canada and people just don't know how to drive them and encouraged me to go to a dealer and try one there. I guess I was driving too slow to feel the turbo in the GTI? First turbo car that I've been in. Can't go wrong with free! I'll be back next year when they get the Golf R for sure. |
I went Saturday afternoon... I would say it was just barely worth the drive out there. Took six laps total... one in each of the Tiguan, Passat Wagon, Golf Diesel, and three in the GTI. Drove it as hard as I could though... screeching around the cones and mashing on the brakes to trigger ABS. Was pretty fun, but definitely wish the track was a little longer. |
