Failing Reposts
 

I know most of us on here do not care much about being failed, but let's not get so damn fail-button trigger happy.

I'm not talking about starting a new thread without using the search button, and it's an obvious repost few threads down.I'm talking about when people are trying to share a youtube video then get tons of fail because he/she did not use the search button within the 30+ page thread...I'm not trying to sound like a fucking saint but remember not everyone followed the long ass thread from the very beginning so cut them some slack for trying to contribute to the community...yes I'm talking about the Stanley Cup Riot thread and even the Asian non-JB thread.

Just trying to get this message across in the Off-Topic, so no I dont care if I get failed for this.

I agree with you and I suspect a lot of threads aren't been created on this forum anymore because posters are fed up with getting failed for no reason and the thread basically going to shit.

some of the shit is just common sence not to post. If people are worried about the video and don't want to get failed don't post it and don't take shit like that personal since it's only the internet after all.

^ like Jah said this is discouraging people to share & contribute. I've personally never bothered searching big threads to see if a certain video/pic has already been posted (I dont even know if using searching fcn in the thread with just the link would even yield any results).

If it is indeed already posted in that same thread a few pages back, okay just keep scrolling.

It makes people think about what they post before they post it.

When the thanks/fail button was taken away people were reposting shit and making stupid comment's constant. I for one welcome the fail button and I'm more then happy of not having to read the BS it stops people from posting because they are discouraged.

If people have a issue of posting on the internet how in the hell do they interact with people in real life face to face?

^ oh I'm not saying remove the fail button...I'm strictly making the case for those that are simply trying to share stuff within a massive thread.

a forum shouldnt discourage sharing at all in my opinion...
i know reposting is a bitch, but ya... as long as its not a mindless random post.. most of the time i am okay with it, even if it is a repost...

every now and then i'll post in the "fucked up shit what makes you laugh" thread. but if i post something that was posted 40 pages ago (about 5 days worth...) bring on the fails...I dont live infront of my computer, and i really dont have hours to kill sifting through thread after thread to see what pictures/videos have been posted. if i find something funny, ill post it to share. if i find out its been posted, ill take it down...it really only takes 1 person to tell me its a repost...dosnt take 50+ people clicking a fail button to let me know.

This is why I don't post a lot anymore I expected to get failed on the wife or camaro one

the only button should be the thank button. that should come accessible at X number of posts. and fail button if insisted, should be given to at an even higher post count.

Everyone in this thread gets more thanks than fails. Why do you guys care so much about this?

Do you guys realize other members, who get a lot of fails, have broken heart and left RS,
all those funny people in RS history, you can see they don't post anymore.

Somewhat related, but what pisses me off, is people who fail you and don't even have the courage or courtesy to explain why. You guys may remember this, but I made a New Year's resolution to not fail anyone, because IMHO, it's a little hurtful. If you don't agree with someone's point of view, you should state why and deal with it that way, rather than just hit the fucking fail button. I made a promise to myself that once I hit 100 fails, it would be time to go, becuase if that many people think your posts are dumb or whatever, it is time to leave. I decided to leave RS for a while, but I loved posting in the Canucks thread too much. Just the other day, I posted my opinion, which I think I had a right to do and got fails. One person was considerate enough to respond and state his POV. One other person responded with a, "Are you a fucking retard?" type of post.

That's OK, the person is probably some little punk-ass who's still in elementary school acting tough hiding behind the computer (or in front, LOL).

Anyone know who Manic is? He seems to like failing me without ever explaining. I even sent him PM once, asking why? Never got a reply.


Well, I've recently joined the dark side and have started to fail people. I hate what I've become, so it may be best to just leave for real this time. It's really not worth it. The amount of time I waste in here is unbelievable. I can be out volunteering and making a difference, instead of arguing with retards. Anyway, I'll lurk for a while and slowly wean myself off RS.

I agree, I vote to remove the fail button. Revscene is so dead these days we need people to post more retarded shit.

I dont even know if it can be implemented but a system like Youtube/Reddit where you vote (Upvote/Downvote) so reposts get hidden perhaps by spoiler tags or something. It won't effect the Fail system and hides the recurring reposts.

Never seen it on a VBulletin forum though so it may all be moot.

exactly. judging form the fails in this thread people don't share that same sentiment and expect us to follow 500+ page threads from start to end.
