What would you guys rather have?

a solid top 2 D man, or a top 6 forward?

Mike Oxbig 04-24-2012 10:49 AM

^ nhl is shifting more on the defence first system now rather than high scoring, maybe thats why we are seeing vancouver, chicago, san jose, detriot knocked out first round?

purcell malone + pick

Malhotra barely made an impact on the team compared to the other finalists. Not surprising.

Is Vancouver on Nash's short list? And where are we going to get the Cap room to sign Burrows or Edler if we take on another huge contract? Booth Ballard Malhotra contracts kill this team.

spideyv2 04-24-2012 10:54 AM

wow, Lu sounds like he's trying his best to hold back tears in the interview

Depends on what type of D-man. Are we talking about someone like a Suter/Weber type? Then yes, I would rather have a d-man come here. Someone that can handle punishing checks and still move the puck out.

TouringTeg 04-24-2012 10:55 AM

I could see Nash coming our way since our offense dried up in the last quarter of the year.

Tapioca 04-24-2012 10:57 AM

Malhotra needs to be convinced to retire so that his salary will be off the books.

Ballard is overpaid, but if given a vote of confidence, he can be solid and play big minutes. Even with Salo's departure, the D will be okay if Tanev develops a shot and we can find a diamond in the rough somewhere.

We need a centreman who can feed Booth and Kesler the puck. Cody is gone, so who else on the market can fill that role?

MR_BIGGS 04-24-2012 10:57 AM

I would prefer a solid top 2 dman. A guy like that can play 30 minutes.

Luongo held himself so well in the presser today.

Luongo is not going to move to Columbus from Vancouver after living in Florida.

spideyv2 04-24-2012 11:53 AM

I thought he meant Eric Staal, not Jordan Staal

jeedee 04-24-2012 12:05 PM

Luongo officially earned my respect saying he would waive his NTC and not prevent this teams success with his clause

With all the crap this guy goes through, he deserves to win the cup just to shut everyone up. Such a shame it might not be with Vancouver.

411ken 04-24-2012 12:09 PM

^I agree..he handled it very very well. he definitely needs a fresh start and would make another team an instant playoff contender

TampaBay is my next favorite team so hopefully he goes there so him with Stammer/St.Louis can compete for the cup too :)

+1. Lu has earned my respect too. From what the media say in Team 1040 interviews, Lu has matured in the way he deals with the press. He's a character guy in the dressing room.

In addition, Luongo did give huge props to Schneider during his interview today after the Gillis press conference. Lu referred to Schneider as "a superstar for the next 15, 20 years."

I hope he goes to a contender in the off-season. The guy didn't deserve all the flak he got here and he's handled everything with class.
