Sad for Saskatchewan. They are officially out of the playoffs.

On a positive note, 8 wins in a row, baby!

The last time the Lions won the Grey Cup at home was in the 82nd Gey Cup. BC Lions vs the Baltimore Stallions at BC Place Stadium. First time ever the Grey Cup was in danger of being won by a Yankee based team. Lui won the game with a field goal with zero seconds on the clock. 4 field goals by the master that game.

Quote:

Baltimore's all-star running back, Mike Pringle had only 71-yards rushing and fullback Robert Drummond had 38-yards rushing for a total of 109 yards. The Lions rushing tandem of running back Cory Philpot and fullback Sean Millington combined for 194-yards rushing, with Philpot having 17 carries, for 109-yards rushing and Millington having 13 carries, for 85-yards rushing. Furthermore, Philpot and Millington gained those yards against an impressive Baltimore defence that was exempt from following the CFL's import rule and was made up solely of American players. There is a common perception that such a team would be stronger than one which was required to have Canadian players.

Feel sorry for the stubblejumpers?

Naaaaah.

They were noting on the radio PBP, McCallum tied the record today for consecutive convert kicks (654), and has never missed one in his pro career. :fuckyea:

^ a player for BC had a pretty good streak going, but the holder screwed up and the streak came to an end. I'm trying to remember who it was. Obviously not McCallum.

tonyzoomzoom 10-16-2011 11:00 PM

Here's what I found:

Converts

Most Converts Career: Lui Passaglia 1048, Mark McLoughlin 834
Most Converts Season: Mark Mcloughlin Cal. 80 (1994), Mike Vanderjagt Tor 77 (1997)
Most Converts Game: Bill Bewley, Trevor Kennerd, Jim Crouch, Lance Chomyk, Paul McCallum, Sean Fleming, Mike Vanderjagt, Paul Osbaldiston 9
Most Consecutive Converts: Troy Westwood 661, Paul McCallum 566, Lui Passaglia 560

I bet it was Lui. Some third string quarterback misplaced the ball. Anyway....

Take a look at this East Van boy's accomplishments......

Quote:

Passaglia played the most CFL regular seasons at 25, the most CFL regular season games at 408, and scored the most points in regular season play with 3,991 points, all with one team: the BC Lions. Passaglia was the first player to score 200 points in a season (1987), with 214 points.

Passaglia holds many CFL regular season records including total points scored (3,991), most converts at 1,045 (560 consecutive—he missed only three), most field goals at 875 (of 1,203 attempted), best single season field goal percentage at 90.9% (40 of 44 in 2000, his final year of play), and most single points at 309.[4] Passaglia is the second all-time CFL punt leader with 3,142 for 133,826 yards (behind Bob Cameron), with the second highest average in a season (1983 CFL season) of 50.2 yards (Jon Ryan had a higher average in the 2005 season). In CFL playoff games, Lui holds records for most points with 210, is tied for most field goals with 48, and has the longest recorded punt of 89 yards.
Played for Notre Dame and SFU before signing with the Lions.

BTW, you Canucks fans........ Passaglia was the first athlete around these parts to get the Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu................

Which I believe, is a far-and-away scoring record for any athlete, in any professional league, too.

Not bad for 46 years old :) Why is it kickers seem to get better with age? McCallum is 41 now, too.

BTW, after the Lions, Lui worked in Public Relations at ICBC... met him a couple of times when I was working there, and like most CFL players, he's one of the humblest, most chill guys you could ever want to meet.

MG1 10-17-2011 09:04 AM

I ran into Lui a few times at UBC. I think we were taking the same type of courses. This was way back when? LOL.

Workers at BC Place represented by BCGEU have served 72 hour strike notice to PAVCO after talks broke down

With the Grey Cup coming to town, this is not good news. I wAnder if the CFL has the balls or the ability, for that matter, to move the Grey Cup game to another location, like Calgary if things start to go real bad.

IIRC, something similar happened in the past and the union at that time let the show go on, even though the group was on strike. Trying to remember what venue/sport/team it was.

I ran into him at Kwantlen once and chatted with him for a bit he's really down to earth and easy to talk to. Geroy Simon is at the Cloverdale football field most Tuesday and Thursday nights I think he helps coach his kids team there. My son practices at 5:30 and he usually shows up around 6:00.

Game time in a few minutes. Going for 9 in a row and the tenth win. Not gonna be easy. Got some key players injured.

Go, Lions, GO!!!

MG1 10-22-2011 05:04 PM

Yikes!

Number 10 is looking tough.

DsZ24 10-22-2011 05:29 PM

Looks like MG1 called it earlier, not the lions night tonight. Damn you and your crystal ball lol.

MG1 10-22-2011 05:34 PM

LOL......... Hamilton players mocking their former team mate, Arland Bruce, by mimicking his goofy airplane pose.

spideyv2 10-22-2011 06:13 PM

Updates plzz
Whats the score?
Posted via RS Mobile

MG1 10-22-2011 06:38 PM

Lions got killed........ not sure what the score was at the end, but the Lions lost by at least 3 TD's.

I blame it on the pink. Ticats looked at home wearing pink, but the Lions were not looking comfortable.

Lulay is injured

So is Andrew Harris, and a few others. Elimimian wasn't playing today.
