[Confidential] Not dating anyone. (Normal or no?)

The following post is from an anonymous member. If they would like to reply to any replies please pm me.

I guess I just wanted to see what everyone thinks about being alone as in not dating or even trying to date someone. I just don't feel like dating or even seeing someone. Is been years and years. Is there something wrong? Or I am just not normal?

One word.

Freedom.

Take it from people who are in a relationship, once you have a girl/guy , you off yourself to spend most of your time with them trying to connect and build a bond with eachother.

There will always be ups and downs in dating or not, some people cant stand to be alone as they always have a partner.

There is nothing wrong with being alone , you can do what you want , when you want, how you want, WHO you want and not have to ask your significant other.

100% normal.
If your happy doing your own thing, not worrying about another person, thats fine.
I've found when I was single I had other things on my mind constantly, and was generally too busy to find someone. I was happy being alone or with friends and didn't need a SO, my girlfriend just happened to come along, and we hit it off. Otherwise I think I'd still be single aswell. Lol.

It's been years and years and not by choice

But in seriously I was extremely worried about it for a while, wondering if there was something wrong etc. Then slowly I started to just be ok with it, realizing it is not abnormal to be single. I started enjoying the freedom associated with it, not having to constantly wonder whether the GF wanted to come etc.

Normal. Completely normal.

One day you'll wake up and go 'this bed's too big for one person' and go out and start dating again. Until then don't stress over it.

if you aren't fucking any body, it's not normal, it means you're ugly or something is wrong with your personality that makes you feel reclusive

Lots of people go through stages in their life where they're like 'I have too much shit going on to deal with another person's BS right now'.

That's a lot different from going out and looking and not finding anyone.

So I guess the real question is: Is it normal to be fine with being single without sex?

Is there a period when it's been way too long that you've been single and not seeing someone? I'm been going for 5 yrs though probably screwed around with a girl here and there.

There's only a problem when you feel that you have a problem.
For example, you feel that you are alone because no one likes you? You have a problem.

VS

You want alone time because you want the freedom to do what you want to do. You know you are the shit and if really wanted to, can easily get a girl. I hope this is you.

Else.... I will LOL at your face if you are option 1.

Hhhmmm, I don't think no one likes me. I think I always eye the wrong girl or set expectations which are hard to meet. Although, lately I find myself dumbfounded on some shit girls expect or hope would happen that kinda has me turned off on the girls in my age group. Maybe it's time to go Cougar Hunting.

what you are saying it true , but not for after awhile.

the freedom only feels good for the first couple of months

doesn't it get dull after awhile being so free?

and then sadly we'd start envying people who are in a relationship....

With school, work and family, I find that I barely have enough time for myself.

Keep telling yourself that. One can still have commitments and still be well accomplished with the same amount of time. You don't graduate UBC or climb corporate ladders solely because you're single and had the availability to do so. People in relationships are just as equipped to accomplish that as their single counterparts.

Unless we're talking about the types that have families/babies by late teens/early 20's.

However that being said, there are still pros in being uninvolved with anyone but IMO, the cons of singularity and celibacy outweigh that.
