Presumably it's a $50 food allowance per day. From the way it's [poorly] written it sounds like they give you $50 for the entire 80 days.

Lol, you made a valid point. The whole time we assumed it's $50/day. But, pretty sure it IS.

I'd do it if I didn't have a kid, or a job I didn't care for. Would be awesome to steal a buggy and drive around in it.

...sounds like something between jail and "survivor". Wouldn't wanna be in either, so not for me lol

you could work out at the fairmont haha

sonick 06-23-2011 01:22 PM

$50 a day for food is not enough if you're eating out.

I just vacationed for 2 weeks and can say I spent < $50 day easily. $10-15 for most breakfasts with coffee. $10-15 for a sandwich combo at lunch. $20-25 for a nice meal and a beer. and that's if I eat well everyday, sometimes you're just gonna grab a muffin and coffee for breakfast, or a cheap meal at McDs.

JSALES 06-23-2011 01:35 PM

if someone on RS does this, i'll visit you since i work at the airport hahaha

jack3d 06-23-2011 02:59 PM

With $50/day, you're gonna be broke after 4 or 5 beers. Airport beers ain't cheap.

Just to keep from being bored and moping around, I'd try a bunch of different jobs to pass the time.

LSF22 06-23-2011 04:20 PM

wish i could do it... since i work there anyways....

too bad im not born here...

SoNaRWaVe 06-23-2011 04:42 PM

maybe the $5 surcharge from the canada line is finally funding for something good?

2damaxmr2 06-23-2011 05:29 PM

Fuck no.

SkinnyPupp 06-23-2011 10:38 PM

Damn if I was in Canada, I'd enter. Here's what you HAVE to do:

Two (2) stories each week;
A minimum of one (1) personal video diary entry each week;
Up to three (3) spontaneous stories (in written and/or video form) each week;
A minimum of one (1) interactive Twitter / Facebook video response each week;
A minimum of four (4) Twitter updates per week;
A minimum of two (2) Facebook updates per week;
A weekly blog for www.LiveatYVR.ca; and
Additional content ongoing.

And the $50 per day is only if you turn down the offer of 3 meals one day.. so if you don't feel like airport food for another meal, you can use your voucher.

gars 06-23-2011 10:43 PM

I'd definitely do this....

hk20000 06-24-2011 12:25 AM

People who work there can tell you now that there really aren't 80 days worth of things to do in there.

mercyboy 06-24-2011 12:50 AM

i would love to do this...if i didn't have college.......f-me.....would love to stay on a island without family involve......

FerrariEnzo 06-24-2011 02:52 AM

at least they say you cant leave sea island, if it was "Cant leave Airport Terminal" then it would be shitty

b0unce. [?] 06-24-2011 08:28 AM

with enough weed, i'll make it through.

LP700-4 06-24-2011 11:03 PM

Haha maybe if it was for 2 weeks but 80 days?? You'll go crazy....

50 is more than enough.. i eat out almost everyday. average meal is like 10bucks, 3 meals a day total comes to 30bucks..

Vansterdam 06-25-2011 12:26 PM

i would hit up flying beaver everyday :fullofwin:

Nightwalker 06-25-2011 05:03 PM

Me too, but that would be rather difficult in the airport, where prices are inflated

But again, the $50 is only necessary if you don't want to eat the provided meals.

b0unce. [?] 06-25-2011 07:37 PM

my life would turn into the blair witch project, walking around the air port at night with the camera on nightmode with tears in my eyes and snot running down my nose, breathing heavily saying ''omg i think something is there! omg"

RFlush 06-26-2011 08:37 PM

Just print a fake boarding pass and use an Airline lounge if you have status with them. Free drinks and food all day with relaxation facilities. If you don't have lounge access, easily obtainable with Priorty Pass which I believe is $400us a year or comes free with many credit cards.

I would just chill in the lounge all day and wander around when wanting too.
