Where is a good place to buy cigars?

Hey guys, heading back to Asia for vacation. I want to bring some cigars to enjoy with my friends there.

Just wondering where is a good place to buy cigars? Doesn't has to be the expensive ones.

And also, does the duty free shop in YVR sell cigars?

TIA!

Any other suggestions?

Gt-R R34 06-26-2011 07:43 PM

probably best one in town.

kobefans 06-26-2011 07:51 PM

Does anyone know if the duty free shop in YVR sells cigars?

bcrdukes 06-26-2011 07:54 PM

Are you looking to export these cigars? If so, check the laws in the respective country you are exporting to.

It is illegal to export Cuban cigars to the USA.

City Cigar is your best bet for cigars. They are an authorized Habanos distributor of Cuban cigars. There aren't any other "good" cigar shops in town that I know of. The other one I liked going to (Robusto in Steveston) folded a year ago.

+1 on City. Friendly staff...know their stuff...good selection.

I am bringing them to China, not US.

Kinda wanna buy a whole box so my friends and I can enjoy them for a while.

You guys have any idea how much for a box? I dont need to have the high end ones, just some decent ones :D

Dude. Call up CityCigar. 604-879-0208

Went there for the first time last week. Frickin' awesome in there. Bought some cigars and a hookah set. Haha

There's a huge range of prices and cigars aren't really something you can just ask "what ones should i get". Best to just go in there and talk to them. They'll tell you what diff ones are like and guide you through it without pressure and help you find something in your budget that will be suitable.

awesome ! I guess I am going there tomorrow ! It's open till 8!

JSALES 06-26-2011 10:23 PM

I'll check tomorrow if the duty free at YVR sells cigars if someone on here doesn't come up with an answer by then haha

Thanks man, appreciate your help.

I guess the government tax the hell out of cigars. I probably would save if I can buy them duty free.

+1 For City Cigar

I've found other places charge more than they do. I've been buying Upman LE 09s lately and a place in gastown charges 10 dollars more than they do.

Vancouver is not the cheapest place to buy cigars. If you happen to swing by Hong Kong, they offer better prices and selection.

JSALES 06-27-2011 09:13 AM

I checked the international duty free here at the airport and they sell them from $50 - $100. Only a few selections though.

sweet, i guess i will buy them in the duty free then, probably a lot cheaper than regular taxed cigars, huh?

kobefans 06-27-2011 12:21 PM

According to my research, a lot of experts are recommending Montecristo No.4 to be the best beginner cigar.

Anyone has experience with it? Taste and flavor?

Share with us please !

Keep in mind that they only have it available at the international duty free and not the US.

Thanks a lot JSALES !

Yup, I am flying international, so I should be able to buy there.

For anyone whos curious about Montecristo No.4 price, thanks to JSALES's help, they are 75 bucks for a box of 25 in the duty free shop ! what a bargain! I read on the internet, it goes for around 150 to 200 dollars in Canada....(correct me if I am wrong)

+1 to City Cigar! Best selection and staff in town.

StealthFighter 06-30-2011 10:10 AM

I also throw up my recommendation for City Cigar. Nice people. Good selection.

Like someone else said, you might wanna look into Asia to buy your Cubans. Since the tax on the Cubans drive up the price a lot in Canada.

_TiDy_ 06-30-2011 04:35 PM

city cigar! super nice people there. I recently went to cigar connoisseurs on 346 water street cuz they had a groupon, the store doesn't have as much selection as city cigar.
