Court tmrw, got a question

Got a ticket last year for 3 things;

MVA - 220(4) fail to wear or improperly wear seat belt assembly
MVR - 3.011(a) No front plate
MVR - 30.13 fail to obviously display relevant new driver sign

I plead guilty on the dispute form and only wanted to dispute the amount, anyone had experience in this? what can I expect for just disputing the amount? Also do any of these fines carry a minimum amount? Thanks!

Well, chances are, I've had a little bit of experience with these charges in traffic court...:D

No, there is no minimum for any of these.

Do you have a driving record that already contains a conviction for any one of these offences? If so, you can probably expect less reduction than you would otherwise.

There are threads in here already about making a deal with the officer prior to trial, so I will let you worry about reading them.

You should be able to justify why you should have a reduced fine. Student, low income, no job, etc.

You should also be able to justify why you need a length of time to pay if you do at the end of it all.

Thanks for the response, I have never been convicted of these offenses prior, I had one speeding ticket about 3 years ago with my N, I now have my class 5 and have been "clean" since that time besides these violations, so from what you say I can expect a somewhat significant reduction? I'am a full time student as well. Thanks

congrats LOL

If the cop didn't show and you disputed the fines does that mean they're automatically lowered? Or are the charges dropped?

^Same question

^ same question

nope even if you plead guilty on the dispute sheet its not a valid guilty, the judge still asks you "how do you plea" just say not guilty then she will go on the PA system or something and call for the officer ( longest 30 seconds of my life praying no one would walk through the door) but no one did and all charges were dropped even though on my dispute sheet I just disputed the fines, 400$ ticket avoided :woot: also about 5 others people cops didn't show, only one cop was present for one case haha
