how does this computer look?

this will be my first time building a computer
i want to play games like BF3 and D3 at really good settings in the future, keeping in mind that I want this to be as cost efficient as possible. The 6950 1gb/2gb are a bit out of reach as they're around 250 at the lowest. I might be SLI/xfiring in the future but I'm not sure yet. I also hope to OC the CPU/GPU in the future

i7-2600k (already have it)

MSI p67a-g43 ~$110 ( I know someone in the other thread said it burst into flames but I've been reading about it and from my knowledge it can OC both CPU/GPU (??) and can xfire/SLI. I don't really have the knowledge to utilise the extra ports so I think i'll be okay)

Palit GTX 560 Ti 2gb $199
http://www.vuugo.com/ProductInfo.asp...2&cf=Nvidia+VC

most likely going to put this all in an ANTEC 300 mini case, 8gb ram etc.

if the MSI will burst into flames (apparently), and the GTX 560 ti is known to overheat, am I screwed sometime in the future?

what do you guys think? any input would be awesome

get a Z68 board

akalic 07-01-2011 04:40 PM

I won't be using an SSD though

Datsun 07-01-2011 05:14 PM

Get the z68 boards only if its cheaper than a similarly spec'd p67 then. Those deals come by pretty often.

Also dont bother with Antec case. Get a CM HAF912, its in the same price range and much more user friendly.

a nice z68 board for a cheap price, even without MIR. thoughts?

that case is pretty nice. Done!

Datsun 07-01-2011 10:45 PM

That's a pretty good deal. 'joquio' in the battlestation thread bought one too.

joquio 07-01-2011 10:51 PM

yeah small tip.
PM at memory express. They will give you the after MIR price so that you don't have to deal with the hassle for MIR.

You'll pay 124.99+tax

It's c43, not g43 :) and no it's not going to catch fire... That guy was seriously exaggerating. Also you could get a 560ti twin frozr2 for a little more, excellent review from linus. One problem I see is that your case is only an antec 300. It might not be sufficient for xfire/sli. Try to save up a little more fot a haf 922, nice cable management and nice reviews.

I've been there so much, they never did that for me

Overclocking on a 4+1 phase board with the mosfets being notoriously lower quality than any other brand is called going full retard.

ONLY if their competitor have a MIR that they (Memory Express) don't have.
Which is the case with this MOBO. The MIR is only exclusive to NCIX.
It's way more awesomer since one don't have to through the trouble of MIR. I hate MIR.

And yes, see if you can fork out $30 bucks more for the MSI 560 ti Twin Frozr II.
It's currently the best aftermarket cooler for the 560
