Canon Lens won't zoom, Suggestions needed! I'm hoping to get some input I have a Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens that is stuck on 17mm and wouldn't zoom. The lens itself works fine including the autofocus and IS. I'm a little reluctant to take it to a shop or send it to canon to fix because I wouldn't know how much the bill will end up to be. I have a sigma 18-200 OS lens right now as my walk around lens so I guess I don't really have a need to get it fixed immediately. My current options are 1) keep my sigma and sell the canon lens as is (i dont know how much it'll fetch for) 2) get the canon lens fixed and use that as my everyday walk around lens 3) get the canon lens fixed and sell both canon and sigma lens and upgrade Thoughts? |
call Canon and arrange to get a flat fee. i've read other lenses like yours having this problem, zoom ring issues. i think its doable for under $200, including shipping costs. |
Do you know anyone that works at a camera store? I just take my shit to my friends and they replace it for me with a new one. They just return it to Canon as a defective or display model. I smashed my 50mm f1.4 and a 70-200 f4 when I had one and got both replaced. |
