A few mechanical questions...

Thanks...

low spongy brake pedal is usually caused by the fluid in the lines and the lines themselves and sometimes by the pad. (this is excluding for the fact a crappy master/slave). if it's a disc and drum setup, a improperly adjusted drum will also cause that feel.

and input shaft won't lead to a slipping clutch. it'll cause noise and probably rough shifting. a worn input shaft bearing also won't cause that either, just a lot of noise.

as for your first question, it depends on the scan tool you're using to view freeze frame data.

most will tell you the cylinders (through cylinder ID, or misfire counters, etc) and it'll usually say the position of the gear shift too in a separate category. depends on the car, and the scan tool.

this is from personal experience at work. there could be more things.

So can I assume this means the car was in Neutral at the time the data was recorded? Thanks.

Yeah it'd be safe to assume that the car was in neutral at the time.

Again it also depends on the type of car too. old diesels didn't have throttle plates, but newer ones have them now. So not too sure if you can tell the diff these days.

As for seeing the diff between v6/v8/i4 I'm not too sure you can from that list of data. I could tell you if it was a v motor or 4 cylinder but not diff between a v6/v8 (through the amount of o2 sensor readings it has)

Got it; looks like it's not an I4 or diesel.

So why edit the original post and remove the questions?

How in the hell does this benefit anyone on RS who might like to read a question/answer thread and possibly learn something?

What was this thread exactly about?
