NAV add on for Pioneer AVH-P6600 I tried to do some research and all I came up with is AVIC-88DVD for the nav add on. Anyone know where I can find one and if it's hard to install? Joey |
You got to remember that the AVIC88 is an old model. Finding it will be hard, warranty wont exist, and pioneer no longer does DVD based navigation so updates will be pretty much non existent. From what I remember that thing is like 5+ years old. In terms of installation it depends on the car. You basically have to find a place to install another DIN sized unit + DIN cable from your DVD to NAV + GPS antenna. Most of the times we ended up installing these in the trunks of vehicle with custom mounting. So if you were to pay a shop to install, I would assume about 2-3 hours labour. Not hard to do, just time consuming to do it nicely. I personally would just recommend spending $100+ on a new portable GPS, will be far cheaper, work faster/better, and more up to date. Otherwise you could upgrade to a newer model DVD/NAV units which are all Flash/HDD based now. It'll run way faster, easier to install, take up less space, and usually has bluetooth and USB/IPOD control. |

Thanks for the info! |
I recently installed one of these older Navi add-ons and like Clarence said, they are very old, the maps are out dated and the features are antiquated. Just re-affirming this fact. |
