Gimmick or is that the actual best way to do it? LOL never seen that technique before. Very cool. |
just some random shots back in febraury from tokyo. will be going again in a few days. hope to get some better pictures. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8240/8...7ee1db89_z.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8...7d82c854_z.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8233/8...9d35a336_z.jpg my canon fd f1.4 has some aperture problems so i sometimes have a hard time getting a good shot. combine that with a noob using a manual lens and this is what you get. oh well. |
Depending on what camera you're using (I assume some sort of Canon DSLR), live view zoom is usually the only way to really nail manual focus. I know for me and the 5D3, the focusing screen isn't interchangeable and manual focusing is a bit of a pain. If you're doing product/food shots anyways, using live view is usually the best way with manual focus, I find. |

Focus peaking is really good on the Nex series. I use it all the time when I needed to manual focus. |

Oyster Shooter with Quail Egg (actually my first time trying it out; kinda hesitant gulping it because of the raw quail egg which I never had before) https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...10301084_n.jpg https://www.facebook.com/JennieYuenPhotography |

What kind of focal lengths do you guys find you use the most for food photography? If you are hoping to be sitting a table and shoot your dinner in front of you even on a full frame I find 50 to be too long... Mark |
