FS: Intel i7 2600k Processor

Up for grabs is an Intel i7 2600k Processor.
I'm in the middle of building a new rig, and have decided to buy a 970. :okay:

$250 FIRM.

BUMPPPPPPPPP

Why would you get a 970 when you already have a better CPU that uses a better platform?

FN-2199 07-16-2011 08:55 PM

School me on these processors please. Building my first rig. Buying my friends' for $100. Moar cores = better? :okay:

The CPU you have now is faster, has more features (like GPU encoding) and more importantly uses a more modern platform (z68, which has native SATA3, better SSD support (caching), etc)

+1. though he's getting the i7 970 for $100 (?!). I'd rather go with that instead if that is the case. Otherwise, the i7 2600K is much better since it is newer and has more features.

Not only that, but consider the RAM you'll have to buy when you go X58 instead of LGA1155 (tri channel vs dual). Also, X58 is nearing the end of life. If you go with 1155, you have the choice of upgrading to the more powerful Ivy Bridge next year.

Next post is going to get points.

You've all been warned.
