I like how in the news story they add in this part:

Quote:

During two Air Canada flights between Ottawa and the United States in the spring of 2009, Michael Thibodeau and his wife, Lynda, were refused service in French about eight times, including when the federal government employee asked for a 7-Up but was given a Sprite instead.

dachinesedude 07-14-2011 03:03 PM

pretends not to speak english, sues Air Canada for not speaking french
wins case, speaks perfect english in public

problem? :troll:

guy's an asshole for sure, but he took advantage of a flawed system

Making money isn't easy. There's all types of ways to make money, this just happens to be a unorthodox way :eekthumb:

Ever own a business?

Sure Air Canada is big corporation but these "types" are the ones that will try to slip and fall in your floor in hopes that your commercial insurance will pay them big bucks for your liability claim.

Which in turn makes you uninsurable for the next term or will have to be paying out of the wazoo in increased premiums.

"were refused service in French about eight times, including when the federal government employee asked for a 7-Up but was given a Sprite instead."

As a Fed-gov employee he should be bi-lingual correct? As such, he should have not had a problem communicating in English :) --- #justsaying

Mr.HappySilp 07-14-2011 05:47 PM

It will be pretty funny if Air Canada refuse this couple service so they had no choice but to use WestJet which isn't bound by this stupid language law.

As long as they remain economically tied to Canada. Basically, they want to separate if we pay them to do so.

Fuck that shit, take the money being pumped to those xenophobic fucks and give it to the now-cut off Maritime provinces if separation happens.

Saw him being interviewed on TV last night and he is fluently bilingual. He Spoke english perfectly with only a very small trace of an accent. He has to be bilingual for his job and is. This is all about politics and money. He comes from a province where the govt fines you and makes you take signs in english down off your own business property.

BTW Ferra...she is french canadian.

This is just a ridiculous as me suing a chinese resturant for not serving me in english (in Richmond I would make BILLIONS if I won every case)

I was in a restaurant yesterday with no english on the menu. I'd just go to another restaurant not fucking sue!

Ordered 7UP, Got Sprite = Pain and Suffering, loss of enjoyment

jackmeister 07-16-2011 09:16 AM

I'm in Montreal right now. Gotta say though, I can's speak a word of french besides Bonjour, and everyone is quite accomodating here and can speak understandable english.

But it doesn't work the other way around, maybe thats why?

still, $12000 for air canada? the fuck? this case law is gonna fuck up a lot of people/businesses down the road.
