Where do you get your prescription eye glasses?

I used the search tool but the threads that showed up were closed.

I'm in need of new glasses because my current ones are broken.
I went to eyestar and found frames i liked but the price they quoted me was way too expensive.
Recommendations of other places would be good.

Coming from the optical business places that will screw you with expensive shit would be the following...Iris, Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, Eyestar(like you said) most of these places have high end frames/designer frames that will charge you and arm an a leg...your best bet would be trying to get your glasses from an independent company/small company owned since they wont try and screw you with crazy amount of fees for lenses/coatings/warrenties PM ill give you a place where you can get glasses for a resonable price.

Melbourne Opitcal - Richmond in the same plaza as NCIX used to be (On Capstain way)

Any thoughts on coating. The stuff that prevents scratching, anti-glare, smudging, etc.
It sounds good to have but is it recommended.

I went to the one around crystal mall food court (there is this anime store across from it).

Pretty decent price and frame isn't too bad.

This. It's where I got mine done too, beside Bubble World

Conan O'Brien Sex Video 07-20-2011 03:44 PM

costco!

dbo 07-31-2011 05:56 PM

the one beside the crystal mall food court is called "opti-smart" or something along those lines..they have a good variety of choices and not overpriced like eyestar

twitchyzero 07-31-2011 06:19 PM

optismart is pretty good...so is the anthony's optical (all in Crystal Mall)

xmisstrinh 07-31-2011 09:12 PM

Avenue Eyecare in Kerrisdale

I got the hook ups if you need ;)

D&D Optical Supply 4580 Dawson St in Burnaby. Entrance is in the back. Prices are a lot cheaper than the mall stores. It's always busy and there's two or three people to look after you.

Definitely get anti-glare and scratch resistant.

Clearly contacts, during one of their free promotions. They also have good sales, too.

After receiving my shipment I just went to the local friendly glasses store and asked them to adjust it for me and they did it for free too :)

hamsup 08-16-2011 09:38 AM

optical centre... :) the one on robson has really good service

TheNewGirl 08-16-2011 10:14 AM

Clearly Contacts.

I will never pay optician prices again for glasses or contacts.

RESN 08-16-2011 11:26 AM

A&P Optical on Cambie and 18th. 8 Years and no problems. They will always look for the best solution for you and try their best to fix your problem.

Clearly Contacts sure they have their free promos, but the lenses suck. They are the most basic shitty lens you will find on the market. Personally I feel good going to a store and getting service, from getting contact solution, glass cleaner sprays, or even swinging by to say hi, and they will adjust and clean your glasses for you. My 2cents. Just don't go to one of the bigger companies where they tell you how much the frame and lenses will cost, and end up adding $50 on $50 on $50 for every extra coating on the lenses.

I just ordered two pairs of glasses at Blynx in Yoahan 2nd floor. I am picking them up soon, so can't recommend them at this time. The place have super good customer service though, and reasonable prices.

Frames are always 40-60% off, all year round. It's the lenses that are expensive. I find that prices vary a lot ~$200 depending on what type of lense you buy (or what the push you to buy).

I just wanted to try something new. Before Blynx, I went to Classic Eyewear on Granville and 65th for about 5-7 years. They have very good quality lenses, but frame selection has been lacking over the years.

If you're near the tricities, there's a great place in Port Coquitlam called "Poco Vision Care". Really great staff and very reasonable prices on frames.

As Conan O'Brien Sex Video said..

Costco man, my dad just recently picked up some prescription glasses from them recently, with warranty, and reasonably stylish frames for like 250 or 300 bucks or something like that.

Some of my other friends tell me some eye places want like 500-600 bones, which is ridiculous!

Luxury Eyewear to check out the girls and try on the glasses then goto Anthony's Optical at Crystal Mall to actually buy the glasses

Trevor Benster 05-02-2013 08:01 PM

Have you checked out glasses at the The Spectacle Shop in Vancouver Canada?

FARMER 05-02-2013 11:13 PM

I get my prescription from my local optometrist and order from clearlycontacts.ca. You will save soo much money going this route.
