Cherry/Blue berry picking

I haven't seen any local cherries or blueberries yet
maybe because of weather? anyway...

Anyone know good farm to pick berries?

I usually go to Bachi (sp) farms on #6 road in Richmond. If they dont have any then head a block on #6 back towards westminster hwy and there is a place there.
Both are good for berries and price but it all depends on the size and taste

I was back east for a year scouring the maritime provinces. They seem to have a different species of blue berries there. They called them "wild" blueberries as if that was their breed name. They were just as sweet as ours, but much more of an intense flavor, but in half the size. I've never seen them in stores here, do you hits know if they exist on any of the farms?

I was so disappointed the first time I had blueberries here after moving from Nova Scotia. There was a little side road near our house that these blueberries would grow in for miles.

So! Good!

I'm not sure how good it is, but I was recently exposed to a place called Westham Island, which is around Ladner. Go on River road in Ladner, and then you keep driving towards a wooden bridge. Cross the bridge and you're at Westham Island. There will be signs showing upick's, farms and wineries.

I've never seen a place where you can pick cherries yourself... they grow in trees as opposed to bushes!

Edit: let me rephrase - I've never seen a u-pick cherry farm in the Lower Mainland. :)

When my siblings and I were younger, our family would go on road trips to the Okanagan and we'd stop by any orchard we saw. Just knock on the door of the land lord and ask if you could pick cherries and negotiate a price. Most of the time, they will say yes unless they have a contract to fulfill with a local super market (i.e. Save On Foods etc.) :)
