This is not an endorsement but buddy of mine 10 years ago drove the sea to sky all the way to whistler, non stop. during the drive, rolled 3 and smoked them. His car is not auto and downshifted into each turn. Some people can and some people can't.

I, For one believe I can drive stoned. It really depends on the person, I am more focused and at ease. I know surely I can't drive drunk and won't try , funny thing is that I dented my car twice while sober rather than stoned

I thought they were investigating weather it was worth while to invest in THC detection for road side (like we have breathilizers for alcohol) and if there should be some laws specifically pertaining to pot and driving (currently there are not, just vague 'under the influence' laws rather then the specific thresholds we have for alcohol).

I don't think this has anything to do with legalization.
I never said the study had anything to do with legalization or was being done for that purpose.

I said that people will use the results of the study to further their own agendas regarding legalization.

Very, veryyy doubtful it will make you a better driver..

So if the debate is whether it will make you a worst driver or not.. why risk it? There's always a chance you could run into a road block and get into shit etc.

I Know as a fact weed doesn't make you a better driver.

However I do occasional blaze and when I drive I notice I'm extra careful and I'm NEVER speeding. And you know what? under the influence or not if you do those 2 things all the time than you reduce the chance of accidence anyways.

I think the characteristic effects of the drug itself have something to do with this.

Alcohol for example typically reduces fear, boosts confidence, boosts agression. Marijuana's effects are usually the complete opposite. I don't know a single agressive pot smoker (only counting the ones that don't drink)

I would say that in NO way would marijuana make anyone a BETTER driver, it just may not make some people significantly worse drivers. I don't think that anyone should be under the influence of any drug while driving, illegal, legal, perscription or otherwise.

That's a good point.
I damn near got creamed by an old lady while parked at the bottom of SFU hill (around the first big corner). She lost it while under the influence of pain killers, and missed me by feet. It helped that I jumped the fuck out of the way at the last minute too.

Regardless, If the push is to get intoxicated drivers off the road, there should be a test that encompasses everything. Not just a matter of how much is in your blood, but how that affects one's cognitive skills.

I prefer a method where they test the driver's ability to react and make decisions, rather than pull a guy who smoked a joint last night, while letting some bitch on Oxycontin drive right on though.
