Haha well that's an obvious one, I mean is there any other advantage other than that? :seriously:

you can extend ur desktop to both displays... kinda handy when u have multiple documents open at the same time
(and i also dont wanna throw out my old monitor)

The advantage is:
a) it's super, super easy to setup, and pretty cheap nowadays
and b) it's just more usable. You don't need to alt-tab between programs, since you always have two windows visible.

Posting my work setup as I spend more time here. At home I tend to sit on the couch with my laptop.

I have my development environment up showing the advantage of dual 24" screens. I can look at 2 classes on the right, and on the left switch between the solution/find/properties/... and beside it errors/source control/find results/call stack/watch window/...

That's crazy! I have the 2420, picked them up on sale for $210 each. I tried them in landscape and they are just too tall, found myself looking up/down too much. That is pretty badass though.

My current setup. Don't mind the shitty desk and surroundings, have to live in a rental house with limited space till new one's built. Hard life.

you are probably thinking of another 2420..because the one's in those pic are the U2410 I believe..which are 8-bit S-IPS panels...the lowest price they ever dropped to was 400ish

I agree it's awkward putting tri-monitor setup in landscape unless you use it purely for gaming (excluding racing sims)

U2410 vs ST2420. I would have liked the IPS panel, yet was not worth triple the cost.

twitchyzero 08-22-2011 10:03 AM

oops i meant it's awkward in potrait mode IMO

trancehead 08-22-2011 01:14 PM

well speak of the devil

http://accessories.dell.com/sna/sna....eandapromotion

its on sale for 450. original price of 600. im very tempted. i want to use it to do web dev work...dont know if i can justify the price of it. IPS 1900 x 1200 is sweet though

taylors ST2420 is also on sale here for 170

yep have been for the past 3 years or so
it sounds and looks ridiculous, but once you see it in real life and try it for yourself (like many of my friends) it works really well

mc. 09-06-2011 11:49 AM

^doesn't that hurt your eyes or something? I tried with my 40", couldn't handle it for more than 2 hours at a time.
