Man... it's been forever since I've brought a car into a dealership and paid for a repair, so it's always a shock to see how much they charge for even relatively simple jobs... lol

You should see how much the parts cost. ;) Especially if it's OEM.

$700 for a BJ....... ;) holy shit.

That's nothing.. I'm betting he only did pads, or only did one axle..

I owned a Lemans Blue 2001 M5 for 4 years and sold it a year ago.

Beware of the carbon build up/VANOS problem -- it is a very very expensive fix.

Also change the MAF sensors if they haven't been changed in the last 5 years -- you will notice a SIGNIFICANT power increase

They are great cars -- I loved mine. enjoy

He's going to have to learn how to drop his pants on a regular basis if he's going to the dealer. :lol

IMO, do NOT buy new MAFs. Recently, companies have been releasing MAFless tunes which end up being only slightly more expensive than replacing MAFs, but it's permanent, and you can a slight power boost, smoother idle, sport button memory, etc, etc.
You might have to also relocate your IATS, but it shouldn't be expensive or hard.

Powerchip has their tune on special right now for M5board.com members:
Powerchip's MAF'less tune! - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)

GB price expires Aug. 15th. I'm ordering today or tomorrow.

e39 >>> e60. e39 just looks right while e60 just looks wrong.

E60 M5 styling might not be for everyone, but you can't deny 5 litres of V10 power! especially at 8000rpms
