Rheem On Demand Water Heater Does anybody have an on-demand water heater system at home, specifically the Rheem branded boxes available at Home Depot? It's about time to change out my hot water tank and have heard mixed reviews about the on-demand system. Any experiences that you can share would be appreciated. |
Check out Bosh Astravan in Vancouver sells them. They have better warranties on the parts and heat exchanger. |
In my experience, GAS on-demand water heaters work really well, until they get to about 10 years old. Electric, I'm not sure, as mine are tank heaters now that I've moved to a place with no gas. Gas though, you get hot water within seconds, and it lasts until you're done  Not sure about brands though, I have only used these things in HK |
How many people are currently living in the house? If 4 or less, then instant hot water heater would be considerable But if you have a large family living in the house, then just stick to your hot water tank.(50 gallon or more) |
also like skinny pup mentioned, i used them in HK and China, and they supplied hot water instantly and continuously. But they all need to be power vented or be mounted outdoors. |
4 people, 2 bathrooms, 1 dishwasher. I rent the basement out to 2 tenants and am afraid that we'd run out of hot water if one of them and one of us were showering at the same time while the dishwasher was in use or something. |

i would suggest the hot water tank heater route. It is more economical for your household. what size hot water tank you have currently? |

It also depends on incoming water temp. Turbo Flow - Up to 11.1 GPM @ 35 degree temperature rise (9.3 GPM @ 45 degree rise). You can combine more than one unit for extra flow. |
I'm the BC distributor of Nortiz. They bad thing about them is the venting costs a whole lot of cash. |
I currently have a 41.6 gallon tank. If I were to get an on-demand system, it'd be with natural gas. |

4 people, 2 showers, 1 dishwasher, 1 washing machine, 4 total sinks (2 kitchen, 2 bath). |
i dont see why you'd ever need one that could handle the max....why get a larger unit if you'll never use the max capacity |

It's funny how this technology is just starting to be adopted in North America, whereas it was already being used in Asia for 20+ years. |
