windshield just got pwned on the highway

I was driving on highway to richmond and out of nowhere something flies into my windshield. I don't know if it were a rock or a bird.. But now my windshield is cracked and messed up. There's no other damage to the car but I was wondering if this were claimable for icbc and on what grounds. I'll link a picture asap.

thats deff a missle/projectile ....not a bird. ICBC claim of 200 bux.

As long as you have comprehensive coverage you will be covered. You can most likely go directly to an ICBC glass express shop to deal with the claim for a $200 deductible.

If you have Comprehensive, then it's a 200 deductible, otherwise you're on your own.

I didn't know rocks that big would end up that high :s its like the size of a fist!

Damn that's 200$ down the drain.. :(

By the looks of it he was lucky that there wasn't any paint damage.

TOS'd 08-03-2011 05:06 PM

That must have been a huge rock to have caused that damage while you were traveling at the posted speed limit. Glad you are alright, brother.

ALEX1988 08-03-2011 05:15 PM

Glad u are ok.
If u have comprehensive with $300 deductible, then you are paying $200 for the replacement. Otherwise you'll have to pay whatever your comprehensive deductible is.

rageguy 08-03-2011 05:32 PM

Pay attention to what your deductible is. Mine is at $300. When I went to Speedy Glass, the job only cost $290. I therefore did not go through ICBC for the repair.

Nlkko 08-03-2011 06:02 PM

That's pretty nasty. Still, could be worse.

Pocakj 08-03-2011 06:14 PM

Yeah, I guess I'm damn lucky the projectile hadn't gone thru the windshield or I'd have been ko'd, plus I was going 90 on the highway, god knows what wouldve happened if I had been severely distracted..

On top of that I guess its a good thing there was no damage anywhere but the windshield.

Never seen a rock that big fly into windshields before :X

Good thing I have comprehensive coverage. Question though: it says it includes a 200$ deduct for windshield damage caused by missiles or flying objects, how much do I actually pay for the deductible? 200$?

fliptuner 08-03-2011 06:18 PM

correct

Pocakj 08-03-2011 06:24 PM

Awesome! Thanks :)

200$ should be considered cheap I suppose. As opposed to the damage that could have happened

if you are picky and want an OE glass, then i guess you would have to speak to icbc or the installer to add $75 for an original equiptment glass. it may also take a bit to get it.

please dont skimp out on a repair like an automotive windsheild. take it to the professionals... speedy auto glass? i have heard too many stories about installers using too much silicon and it clogs to water drains and causes interior leaks and rusting of the car.

good luck on your repair.

ae101 08-04-2011 11:55 PM
