has anyone done any studies on the US housing market lately? Is it a viable investment option for us Canadians?

I seriously thought about moving to Florida. But I was talking to some people I know and they tOld mr it's a bad idea because it would be next to impossible to get a work visa? Also who really wants to become a us citizen.

A good family friend bought 2 fairly large American companies at the deepest part of the recession, both companies employ like 20-30 people and have testing labs to give certification similar to CSA type stuff, he also bought 2 properties with cash basically and he is still in the Process of getting the dual citizenship/extended visa so yea it seems Pretty tough to move/work in the states Permanently

especially when China calls in their debts and when the USA can't pay they will just declare war against one another....

As a US citizen guess you will get drafted to go to war :troll:

talked to someone on the plane who are from michigan....the whole state seems to be a bargain (not just detroit) where 100K can get you a large mansion...normal housing is around 50K....

There's currently some issues with titles on foreclosed properties but if you're properly insured for those instances there's good buys. Heck even if you just hop the boarder into Washington State you can pick up houses for a fraction of what we pay up here.

I have a friend who laments the fact that he's renting a $600/sq foot place in Yaletown that he'll never be able to afford to buy. But he now owns a lovely house in Palm Springs that he picked up for all of $60K and makes a tidy bit of money renting out when he's not down there for vacations.

For example:

3 bed rooms, 4 baths on 11 acres... with a baseball diamond and barn.... 279K in Blaine. Foreclosure.

I wouldn't call that "saving" Florida

No, it just shows they are douchebags. Basically, they want people to know they drive a Lambo, even when they're not driving the Lambo.

Meowjin 08-10-2011 02:50 PM

Move to the Island and see prices here. No need to move to another country to get a house for 350k.
