I think it's because they changed the ranking system to more of a bell curve. It used to be stacked with people all above gold nova master/master guardian. Now they pushed it back so that theres actually people in the silver tiers so the whole ranking system has taken a shift.

if you were like me, in the DMG/LE range and a fringe one at that, you probably got ranked down one or two. I've gotten bumped for LE to MGE now, and when I played a game that was DMG/LE skill level, it felt like it was the old LEM skill range.

I'm glad they did this.

I log on to play a game, and it gives me some crap about being Rank 3 before I can play a match? This isn't a new account.. this was a ranked account, 100+ wins in competitive, tons of hours played... now i'm locked out of the main game mode on a game I paid for?

Yes, you have to play casual modes until you're Rank 3 before you can do competitive. It's to stop the smurfs from playing competitive right from the bat, but they implemented it weirdly and it retroactively applied to all existing accounts.

Also stops the hackers from joining and playing right away

I understand why, and definitely not opposed to the concept.. but if you have a certain number of hours already played, or competitive games won, they should have started your account at lvl 3

Definitely a piss off for someone who just took a break at the wrong time like yourself. I'm just glad i got all my XP pts from comp games before they introduced the rank 3 minimum. But besides that MM is a wash and have 0 incentive to play it with options like ESEA.
