Cheapest plan for BBM?

hey guys, i have a plan with rogers currently for my Iphone. I'm getting a blackberry as well strictly for BBM. which company has the cheapest unlimited BBM plan?

BBM usually is part of a data plan. But if you ONLY use BBM (and email with out many attachments) you could probably do just fine on a 250MB plan.

Which BB do you want? They're not all available at all providers.

^edit: beat me to it.

BBM is strictly data like emails, it's not billed separately. Any small data package should be sufficient.

ok so can I get just a data plan then? or do I have to pay for voice and stuff too? I wouldn't use my blackberry for talking or internet, I've got 6GIGs of data and unlimited minutes on my IPhone for that... I would probably buy a Torch 9800 off craigslist since i'm used to having a touch screen... i don't want to sign a contract for a free phone. or can i just use some of my 6GIGs of data I have from Rogers with my blackberry?

I think for $10 you can share the data between 2 devices on Rogers. But your blackberry will need a voice plan. I tried to activate a data only plan for my iPhone I couldn't find anyone who would do it. They even tried to activate an iPad plan on an iPhone and it didn't work.

If you want a cheap BBM only plan, Wind has I think the cheapest plan ... get the $15 Clever voice plan and add the $5 Social Blackberry addon ... only thing is you will need a BB that will work with Wind (has the AWS frequency)

do they have AWS torch 9800's? or am i limited to 9700?

I don't think there are any 9800s slated to work with AWS yet ... only ones you are stuck with are the Bold, Curve and Pearls ... I'd stay away from the Pearl :)

ok so I want a 9800 so i guess the Wind plan is out of question... any other plans you can suggest?

you can get a sim card activated on blackberry data only.. its $15 a month for the unlimited im/email plan with rogers.

xpl0sive 08-18-2011 08:53 AM

hmm ok i'll call rogers and find out... the only other option i found was through fido... $15 voice plan and $10 unlimited IM add-on...

Teh Doucher 08-18-2011 11:50 AM

trust me, it works. I was using it for a while but I got sick of carrying around and using 2 phones all the time so I made the blackberry my primary device.

Sounds like Rogers is your best bet then but the 9800 is kind of overkill for just BBMing ...
