shenmecar 08-27-2011 12:20 PM

It's a aircraft carrier with a full kitchen staff I'm sure. They are used to feeding crowds like that so prob regular navy food

Nah, that would be chaos. Everybody would just end up bringing laptops.
The whole point of these things is for the company to show off their tech, especially nvidia.

Looking at the pic none of the systems seem the same. Different towers, some using laptops, and a mix of LCD and CRT monitors.

Guys, the USS Hornet was struck in July of 1989... and is now a museum ship. So it's docked, and I highly doubt the kitchen is fully staffed.

According to wikipedia, the USS Hornet is said to be one of the most haunted warships in the American Navy! :D

Its BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer).

A friend is a freelance tech writer, he covered a similar event on the Hornet a few years back hosted by AMD/ATI. The novelty of the event wears off pretty quickly, considering these things take place in the hangers below the deck under florescent lights in basically a giant steel room.

btw the Hornet has been permanently docked for over 10 years now.

yeah i can't see any other part of a carrier that will allow space for 800 seats
i'd figure the ship was out of service for many years if they were able to host this.
