Android: Network Mode Missing
 
I'm using stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 on a i897 Captivate. How do I change my network mode to exclusively EDGE?

Network Mode is missing under the Mobile Network menu.

That's a problem with the stock rom. The only way I know how to change it is to use the special *# service menu codes to force it to Edge.

Yeah, I tried using the *#2636# code, it doesn't work after a phone reset.

Yeah all of those codes are only good until reset. Your only other option is to flash a custom rom. lol

What happens when you use one of those widgets that have a 2G/3G switch?

The widgets I've tried will only either toggle that setting if it's there or simply shortcuts to it in the menu. You can try a few to see.
