86.9¢/L Gas in Surrey

Quote:

Sept. 2, 2011 /CNW/ - Vancouverites looking to fill up their gas tanks for the long weekend should head to the gas bar at 16788 104th Avenue (at the corner of 104th Avenue and 167th Street in Surrey) where FlightNetwork.com has dropped the price of gas by 50 cents per litre, giving consumers a much needed break on ever-rising fuel costs.

The deal is in promotion of FlightNetwork.com's new Price Drop Protection (PDP) plan. The plan is a unique, free program, exclusive to FlightNetwork.com customers on all economy flights. Price Drop Protection allows consumers to track flight price drops after they buy and, when a price drop occurs, lock in the savings.

"Our new Price Drop Protection plan takes the guess work out of booking flights, while our gas Price Drop promotion takes the guess work out of when to fill up at the pumps," said Jamil al Jabri, Marketing Manager of FlightNetwork.com. "In either case, it's all about knowing that you have locked in the best deal."

What: Vancouverites saving 50 cents per litre on gas right now!
When: Today, Friday, September 2, from 8:00 a.m. until the gas runs out! (20,000 litres, max. 50 litres per vehicle. No gas cans permitted - propane is not included.)
Where: The gas bar at 16788 104th Avenue (at the corner of 104th Avenue and 167th Street in Surrey)
Who: FlightNetwork.com
Why: In celebration of Price Drop Protection
LoL, this must be a gong show for sure.

The gongshow and lineups would not be worth the dollar savings IMO.

QFT. It's gonna be a clusterfuck.

Anyone drive by that area? It's been going on for almost 4 hours, now.

That gas station is in my neighbourhood so I went to check it out.
They hit their limit for the promo already. I was second in line when they started cutting people off :okay:

As for the gongshow it wasn't that bad at all. They had people doing traffic control on both entrances/exits to the gas station and it seemed pretty orderly. Most people seemed to be coming from off the highway so there was one huge big lineup. However, I was coming from the other direction and the lineup was less than 10 cars

The wife just phoned me. She's headed to a friend's place in North Surrey, and hit this clusterfuck of traffic by accident. Apparently it's backed up for blocks.

If I could've filled up my truck, it would be worth it (130L tank) but for 50L, I would've had to already be in the area. Time is money.

lonelydriver 09-02-2011 01:26 PM

This is probably why there is no lineup towards the states.

amazing how the price of gas skyrockets for the labor day weekend every time

and the fraser institute says that's not true ;)

fliptuner 09-02-2011 03:45 PM

My GF and I filled up on Wed. night at 129.7 and yesterday morning it was at 139.9.

jtanner_ 09-02-2011 03:53 PM

140.4 last night. Seriously what the fuck. Breaking the bank on this 94 octane shit lol.

The gas price drooped in Nanaimo. it's 123.9. Some places it was 132.9 only a few days ago.

I filled up the other day with it was 127.9 in burnaby. Next morning on my way to work, I was shocked to see 137.9.

It just doesn't make sense when they say there is no price fixing or gouging going on.

exactly it was like 127 here the other day and last night it shot up to 1.40,4

Culture_Vulture 09-02-2011 04:46 PM

I live just blocks away from there and it was fucked up getting home. At first I thought it was a major accident. Too bad I already filled up at the Esso on 96th/168th (at 133.9/L).

FOREVER 09-02-2011 05:07 PM

CTV news said the gas was gone in hours :(

tegz 09-02-2011 05:43 PM

tiger_handheld 09-04-2011 02:52 PM

lets do some weekly gas runs - i'm sure many ppl on RS go down to the states on a weekly basis.
Pay you 50% cash up front , rest when gas is dropped off. Should be at a neutral location in large city (ie. surrey vancouver etc..)

would it work?
