How much would it cost to build a new computer better than this?

Intel core 2 CPU 6420 @ 2.13ghz 2.13ghz
4gb ram
Ati Radeon 4800 series graphics card

its probably about 3 years old, runs well with a new PS and new heatsink and i think the motherboard is probably like a mid-range one at the time

could you build a much better computer for $300?

PornMaster 09-03-2011 05:51 PM

you could build a "better" computer but not by much

depends on what your using it for

shoot me a pm and I can hook you up with parts for cheap

twitchyzero 09-03-2011 06:06 PM

you'll need at least $500-600 to build something more current that's considered worthy of an upgrade

What kind of 4800 is this? 4870?

It can still play most games decently.

StylinRed 09-03-2011 06:34 PM

That's pretty much the same computer i have except my cpu is an AMD

wanting to upgrade for BF3 :D

asian_XL 09-03-2011 06:58 PM

a used E8400 and a new ATi 6870?

For the money you want to spend, consider upgrading the CPU.

PornMaster 09-04-2011 02:30 AM

a lot of people don't consider cpu while upgrading and they get a ridiculous video card and cpu can't handle it.

video card doesnt mean everything

I upgraded my 3 year old (Duo 2.1 Ghz) to a Q8400 (quad 2.6 Ghz)

normal usage was marginally improved but the speed is noticeable when loading big things like PS, games, or rendering videos. upgrade was under 200 and you don't need anymore ram if you're on XP

agreed... i have a gtx480 sli and i7 930.. i'm still getting bottlenecking coz i was running my i7 at stock 2.8.. my fps is lower than someone running 1 gtx560 with i2600k with the same settings ~~

when i go into my computer it says 4gb ram installed but only 3.5 useable

i'm on 32 bit windows 7, limited by my MB?

Ikkaku 09-04-2011 11:42 PM

I forgot the explanation, but it's actually the 32-bit OS that is limiting your usable ram to 3.5gb

you'd need the 64-bit to have it use the full 4gb
