I could fuck with some 38 years old but other than that, tragically hip feels like they were only popular because it was the only thing Canada had to offer lol, I’ve also never been a fan, it sounds way too “canadiana”
Comparable's which I don’t particularly like either but I prefer like REM are much more palatable imo.

I like Broken Social Scene/Metric as far as Canadian goes form that era... there were a lot of pretty good Canadian bands around that time.
One of my favourites was Treble Charger... I was also huge into Econoline Crush back in the day lol I even started a website for them and their manager emailed me to tell me I did a great job and if I wanted to run their official site. Can't forget OLP either!
