side note school in asia (cant remember if its taiwan or china) distributed mooncakes to their students and most of them got sick turns out they were a year old! |
a couple years back a Asian man dropped off moon cakes at more work. I was like hey these look good and had a bite. Never will I ever try one again they are so nasty. Beyond a way to make a quick dollar due to tradition. |

If I ever get handed some mooncake I just eat the yolk. The crust isn't bad either, TBH. It's the bean paste that is nasty. |
im ok for mooncake just not too much |
i only like the bean+egg yolk ones all the rest are so nasty |
cant stand the yolk ones i dont know why ppl like it the two flavours totally don't mix for me never tried the meat ones that just sounds :crazy2: |
50% off moon cakes at pricesmart (frozen ones and the traditional egg/paste ones) |
the egg yolk in mooncakes are vile |
mooncake is pretty gross..i thought I would appreciate it more getting older but nope. |
i've had mooncakes for the past 15 years, and i can say that i am finally sick of it |
I don't know what's wrong with you guys. I like lotus seed paste. I have a feeling you're taking one massive bite and then spit it out cause it's like lotus paste overload. |
Mooncake NEEDS to be paired with tea in order to not be nasty. The max I can eat in one sitting is still a quarter slice though. Had some of those pansy cold dessert mooncakes too, they now have tons of new flavors like coffee and weird fruit combinations which are really bland |
The frozen ones are even worse, IMO. Instead of lotus seed, which actually isn't too bad, they use mung bean paste. Combined with horrible artificial flavours (the cheesecake ones taste like cheez whiz), and no yolks, they are far worse than the traditional ones. |

Never had a Mooncake before...a cake that contains beans and a whole egg yolk? Doesn't sound very appetizing...? Oh, well, here's my Moon shot: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...IMG_1070-3.jpg 100% crop: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...IMG_1070-2.jpg |

What time did you take those moon shots? We noticed the moon 'setting' last week around 10:45pm before rising up in the sky again. Is it doing the same thing this week? |
The Moon rises and sets at different times everyday. If you have an iPhone there are apps like LightTrac & Sun Seeker that tells you when the Sun and Moon rise and set and will also tell you sightlines, so you can see where in the sky they will be at any given time. |
back in the day (1960's) mooncakes were very valuable, MOST people would eat was like half of one at a time, they weren't made to be gorged upon i heard people even saved throughout the year so they could buy mooncakes at this time of year and go around sharing with neighbours and friends |
I dont care about the moon cakes, i just eat the motherfucking snails. |
